Sweet 400 bucks not bad at all. I wonder if its gonna be dreamcasted though if MS or Sony pull out some crazy hardware for 2011. At least it seems innovative, finally someone puts a dang touchsceen on a controller .

I recall Nintendo saying something about not launching their consoles at more than $250 back when the Wii was put on the market.

*shrugs*

Rumors are rumors. We'll see how things turn out.
Did you miss the part where they regretted not charging more for the Wii?

I hope that Wii HD aka Project Cafe is indeed using an AMD R700 graphics processor, specifically the RV770 or some custom variant of it. If so, that would offer roughly one hundred times the graphics performance of the Hollywood GPU in Wii. Now imagine what EAD Tokyo could do with a Mario Galaxy 3 in 1080p 60fps glory! drooooooool
I don,t think 1080P would make Mario look any better, it are pretty simplistic graphics.

I have no interest in this console, sadly. I just don't care for Nintendo's games anymore. I'll change my mind if they start making/getting the main games, but this'll probably be like the Wii, when the PS4 and 720 come, most of the 3rd party games will be only on them and not on the Wii, unless they lower the graphics.

New details on this new console just keep streaming in don't they?
Going from Wii to Stream? What's next, Flush? Ba Dum Ching.
Haha! Brilliant!

Overheard from Nintendo:"We'll call it the Flush because it blends right in with the average family's entertainment system."

*overdramatically spits out tea*

Have nintendo gone mad!? This ain't the first time a console's been released at ridiculous price, but seriously?? In a reccession economy what makes them think anyone even has a spare $400!?

This could just be rumour, but somehow, I can't help but feel nintendo's about to nail shut it's own coffin.

It's funny because you said Flush and your name is Fiber

Personally, I think they should go

Looks like your puns have caught a popular current - just hope the tide of opinion doesn't change or you might find yourself up a creek with no paddle.
Are you saying there's a chance people will find my jokes too... Dry? O_O
Well, we wouldn't want to see you all washed up ;)

I see the Wii's steaming pile of crap, and raise it the PS2's pile of steaming crap. People remember it fondly, but the PS2 had some serious crap...
The reason the PS2 had so much crap on it was because it was the best, most popular console, which meant that everybody and their dog would release that hastily made shitty games on it. Fortunately, there were also an absolute fuck-ton of fantastic games released on the PS2 as well, which is what really matters at the end of the day.

You may be overselling it slightly, but as for the crap on the Wii, it's for exactly the same reason. Looking at hard statistics, and the Wii is bafflingly popular

Well the hell do they all insist on sticking with IBM hilariously underpowered PowerPC architecture? If you have to use an esoteric processor design, at least pick something good, like SPARC? Hell, I'm sure AMD would be willing to sell you some bulk Tri-cores for a cheap price? But really, IBM, KMON?!?!?

400$? A bit too pricey for a Nintendo system, but, if they deliver on what they promise, it will be worth it.

And Come on people who keep talking about "Super Mario Galaxy 3 on the Cafe", we all know Nintendo will not make another Galaxy game on a different system. If anything, Galaxy 3 will be out on the Wii during it's final year of life, while the Cafe get's something like, "Super Mario: Time Journey(Not to be confused with Mario's Time Machine)" or something like that.

To everybody who feels compelled to whine about the price: it is not imperative that you purchase it on launch day. If you happen have more money than self-control, then learn to live with it. And appreciate your wealth, although how you earned it with that little intelligence is beyond my understanding.

That's because there are also a large number of very good PS2 games.

Wii?

Not so much.
It's the same as any retro love... a lot of it doesn't hold up after time has passed. If Nintendo have ever proved one thing, it's that their games have a larger longevity than most.

They could create a really pretty, boring as hell repetitive 3 dimensional platformer that couldn't even be bothered to change the soundbyte in the intro from "Super Mario Galaxy" to Super Mario Galaxy 2" Don't believe me?
Go back and listen to the title screen.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 was the same game again, nintendo sold the fanboys the same game twice, haha.
So glad I didn't buy it.
I'm actually all in all pretty sick to death of most of nintendo's staple franchises. Zelda's become just a wash rinse repeat and I have never liked Mario, bar Sunshine, Paper Mario 1 and 2 (super was just awful) and the All star saga series..
Unless there's a new starfox game or metroid or possibly castlevania (if it's not like lord's of shadow) then I might buy this console.

Larger longevity than most?
Really? Have you gone back and played most of the Nintendo 64 games?
the Banjo Kazooie series has not withstood the test of time.
I can't even bring myself to start ocarina of time or majora's mask anymore.
Mario 64 I was never a fan of, but one of my all-time favourite games on the 64 doesn't even stand the test of time.
Stop looking at these games through nostalgia. I went back to Super smash bros (my aforementioned favourite n64 game) and it's woeful...
the framerate... my god, I don't know how I managed to play with 4 friends all those years ago.
The n64 always had severe framerate issues. even starfox 64 (another favourite) isn't as good as it used to be.
I challenge you to go back to those old games and see if they still stand up today.
For me, aside from the Metroid and the castlevania series, Nintendo's IP's can go to hell.
