runescape, whats your opinion?

For being free it will forever be greater then WoW. I did play it when I was younger for about 3 years or so but I just don't understand why there's so much hate about it.
1. You don't pay shit
2. you are entertained
3. you can play from almost any computer
4. if you want it to remind you of WoW you can bend over and pay out the ass to make it "better"

so what's to hate sure it's not perfect but so what you get what you pay for.

I don't get it. It's free but you get what you pay for? Also opinions are all different. Saying "what's there to hate" will differ for everyone.

Not really, guys. I'm 17 and just now am taking a break from playing it, and here's why.

It's a completely legitimate MMO if you pay for a Member's subscription. You get a vicious economy, tons of quests, items to get, people to talk to (or not), and (if you have willing friends) even PvE raids. The only reason I can think of that it's so looked down upon is because all of those who've played it really haven't gotten into it, nor payed to unlock the game's content. Sure, it's mostly inhabited by immature 10-year-olds, but it's nothing that can't be remedied by ignoring them or playing with friends.

It's as if you were to give WoW negative reviews after playing it for 15 days on a free-trial basis, but only played 30min a day. Like any other game of its kind, Runescape requires that you get into it far beyond the things offered for F2P.

As for my opinion, honestly, I don't think most free MMOs/browser games are worth your time. Adventure Quest is decent, but if you're using a free account you'll almost always have troubles logging in.

And it has to be said, because it's been said over and over and over again: World of Warcraft is the way to go if you're ever considering upgrading to paid MMOs.

First off "It's free but you get what you pay for" means if you paid nothing for something, don't expect something great.

Also I think it might make more sense if you said "it's free so you get what you paid for".

I don't know how better to explain.

Second mostly everything I wrote it was my own opinion and "what's there to hate" was more of a question or a statement.

It's a simple MMO and it could get boring but I can say..

I played Runescape when I was a nipper, and yeah it's pretty decent.

Sure the game was 100% grind, but there was just something oddly cathartic about chopping down a tree, using a tinderbox to light a campfire, then cooking a fish which you caught yourself to make yourself a tasty treat.

Overall though I'd say it does not stand as one of the MMO greats, but it is a nice introduction to the genre.

I remember enjoying it for a short time when all my friends also played. But after that it became dull.

Why, I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself. It's not that I haven't ever played the game, it's just that after an hour or so, it gets too boring to comprehend why all the 10 year olds still play it.

I played it for a few years. The quests were awesome. Eventually got sick of the grind though. When I feel like I can put put with grind again, I'm going to try WoW

It's pretty fun in fairness. But I suppose it's lack of non-member features could get annoying. All I did really was fish...

it was fun when i played with my friends cuz we would jus hang out and dick around....but the game got old pretty fast
