Rush Limbaugh Dark Knight RisesThe Clear Channel radio personality said in today?s broadcast that the makers of Warner Bros? The Dark Knight Rises are surreptitiously trying to brainwash audiences by naming the film?s villain ?Bane.? You know, like Mitt Romney?s former employer: Bain Capital. Rush Limbaugh says that moviegoers ? especially ?a lot of brain-dead people, entertainment, the pop culture crowd? ? are ?gonna hear Bane in the movie and they?re gonna associate Bain. The thought is that when they start paying attention to the campaign later in the year, and Obama and the Democrats keep talking about Bain, Romney and Bain, that these people will think back to the Batman movie? There are some people who think it?ll work. Others think you?re really underestimating the American people to think that will work.? Limbaugh adds: ?You may think it?s ridiculous, I?m just telling you this is the kind of stuff the Obama team is lining up. The kind of people who would draw this comparison are the kind of people that they are campaigning to. These are the kind of people that they are attempting to appeal to.?

Batman comics introduced Bane in 1993. Actor Robert Swenson played the villain in the 1997 film Batman & Robin that starred George Clooney.

Soooo..... Okay, really? I can't honestly believe Rush wouldn't even bother to do a wikipedia search on Bane before talking about it. I really have to assume he just said it to make more media buzz for himself, because lets face it, Rush doesn't make money and listeners from the people that like him. He succeeds off of negativity, he's rather brilliant in that way.

Rush, Rush, Rush...

Romney doesn't NEED anyone's help to look bad.

Poor, poor out-of-touch politician for not knowing that ubermencht of a man from the Batman rogue's gallery, that monstrous prison-lifer-turned-super-soldier known as Bane. The very badass and eloquent killer with his bare hands.

Let's just let him figure that shit out on his own.

Clearly DC have been planning this for 20 years. Right? That must be it! ¬_¬

How can anyone with a brain take this moron even remotely seriously?

Gotta give Rush credit here...it takes a lot of doing to ignore about 20 years of character history crossing from comics to animated television to live action film, to say nothing of the actual traits of the character (Luchador-esque character quite literally on hyper-steroids, often depicted with an intellect that matches his enhanced strength) and claim it's an underhanded attempt to smear a politician based entirely on a purely phonetic similarity to a company the politician is associated with. I mean heck, even ignoring all that, "Bain" exists as at least two company names (Bain Capital and Bain & Company), a real-life surname, at least six fictional characters, a city and two rivers...and that's without taking into account the fact that "Bane" is itself a real word.

So yeah...kinda hope that Rush stretched before he said that, because that is one heck of a reach.

It's stories like this that lead me to believe that "Rush Limbaugh: Radio Personality" is just a character he plays. I just don't think he's real. Between poorly thought out stories like this to his spots on Family Guy. I just think he's an entertainer and his niche is "pants on head retarded conservative radio host".

Eh, why not?

How many of his listeners are going to be DC fans? I'd imagine he'd be one of the many people accusing DC of being evil lefties and all. Hell, Batwoman is a lesbian. Obviously they are out to corrupt the US.

(Dunno if Lex Luthor being an evil PotUS counts, depends what party, I guess).

Well this is interesting.

So, if say... by the time the next election time comes around... a new Batman movie is coming with Poison Ivy in it... is it attacking pharmaceutical companies? Or synthetic fuel organizations? :O

This sounds like something Stephen Colbert would have said. Although it dose help me understand the people who don't realize Stephen Colbert is a satire.

So he's stupid/misinformed.

Awesome.

I don't know who this bloke is or who Mitt Romney is.
I am not a US Citizen so I can't vote. I'm better off waiting until the election is over and then finding out about the winner's policies, rather than getting involved with the mess of a governmental election system you guys run.

I'm not surprised by the fact that Rush doesn't know about Bane as a character or indeed, his history in film. I am surprised by the fact that he or, his script writers or, whoever else he comes into contact with before he starts his show didn't come up and point out that Bane has been a character in Batman lore since the early 90's.

Otherwise I love this season! The last few Presidential elections have been really mean spirited and, downright dirty. I can't wait to see how low Romney and, Obama will go with their smear adds this year.

I can. Limbaugh is a blowhard whose time is long past. Besides, his audience is a primarily a pack of 50 + rich white guys who think comic books and the internet are both the devil's work. These same people swallow whole his diatribes about drug use and how addicts should be jailed while ignoring the fact that their hero was a drug addict himself. In other words his audience is retarded.

No, he said it because Romney is going after the gullible, paranoid people who would fall for that conspiracy theory crap.

I offer no comment on which section of America that is.

Funny.
I hear alot of crap on our radios here in Finland but that's mainly intentional humor. This is either one of the most artarded radio guys ever or just and attention whore/Troller.
Anyways he's in media so maybe this'll give him some.

Ahh....Rush Limpdick.

This is the same backwards Shari Law lover (well, at least if Christians had one) that 'coined' terms like 'feminazi'.

Personally?
I can't wait for this sad excuse of fat n' flesh to overdose on whatever pills he's abusing THIS year.
