I'm actually not surprised by this at all. The Right sees enemies everywhere, even if they have to make it up.

You know... If they would actually acknowledge that THIS was the reason they chose Bane as the villain for The Dark Knight Rises (one of the most unimaginative Batman villain regulars), it would make a lot more sense.

At least then they would have an excuse.

Hrm, the scary part is that the man's no moron. He knows exactly what he's doing just as he did when he accused the law student of being a whore for thinking birth control should be included in medical coverage.

He's pandering to his audience. The same audience who will - come November - ensure that this election is yet still another near-draw. Face facts folks, there's a significant proportion of the population who feels this stuff is the truth.

So, if you're a citizen of the U.S., please please please make sure you take the time to register and to vote. The folks who believe him have...

I found two threads where Chuck Dixon responds to a left attack on Romney also comparing Bane to Bain.

This is from the Washington Examiner.

"It has been observed that movies can reflect the national mood," said Democratic advisor and former Clinton aide Christopher Lehane. "Whether it is spelled Bain and being put out by the Obama campaign or Bane and being out by Hollywood, the narratives are similar: a highly intelligent villain with offshore interests and a past both are seeking to cover up who had a powerful father and is set on pillaging society," he added.

And Dixon's response.

"I saw it on FB like two hours ago.
Ridiculous.
Tho' I got a cold feeling in the pit of my stomach that Rush may pick up on this.
And hat would be the second time he pegged me and Graham as liberals on his show."

"Overgrasping Dems?
Hey, if it gets Obama supporters into theaters. Maybe they'll buy thousands of Bane toys to throw at Romney.
It all adds to MY Bane capital.
I wonder if the Romeny campaign will contact me?"

I am currently working to see if there is any response from Dixon on the first Limbaugh statement.

All in all like any form of media you get out of it what you want to get out of it.

Clearly DC have been planning this for 20 years. Right? That must be it! ¬_¬

How can anyone with a brain take this moron even remotely seriously?
Well, of course they have. Obama has obviously planned this together with DC when he first realized he wanted to be president once. He knew that he would probably run against a candidate either named Bain (or some variation of that) or that his candidate would be associated with someone with this kind of name. It's so stupid that it can't be a coincidence.

This is ironic considering how many Conservative pundits praised The Dark Knight for its alleged "anti-terrorism undertones". Rush is a fucking clown.

I have to ask, are we sure his audience is the one that agrees with him? I subscribe to the theory his bread and butter are liberals that listen to his show just to rage against it.

Cause think about it, if people listened to who they agree with politcally then why hasn't there been a successful Liberal talk radio program? Cause people are more attracted to negativity.

I'm sure this was just a calculated plot by Rush to get his name back in the media. He's a brilliant self-promoter and bullshit artist.

Liberal conspiracy or not, wouldn't the irony in naming your private equity company with a homophone of 'bane' be kinda obvious. Pretty classy.

It's stories like this that lead me to believe that "Rush Limbaugh: Radio Personality" is just a character he plays. I just don't think he's real. Between poorly thought out stories like this to his spots on Family Guy. I just think he's an entertainer and his niche is "pants on head retarded conservative radio host".
Ever since his family guy spots I'm inclined to believe this. It seems like he knows how dumb his audience is and is just playing to it. Although I'm not sure if its worse that he is just playing a role or if he actually believed the crap he spouts.

I think there's certainly a proportion of his audience who fits your theory, but I think there's a larger proportion who are true believers. I don't have hard data to back that up, but anecdotally I've seen enough folks who feel "Rush is right" to stick with my earlier point.

As far as a successful Liberal radio program, how about NPR? Not the same format, but certainly a good place for more progressive news and opinion, no?

Yes, I am sure that as soon as the election starts people will immediately think of a man who has a mask on his face.

There is a simple explanation for such a dumb assertion. RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A LIAR, he does it for a living, he lies and distorts the truth so that every news story fits into a self reenforcing neo conservative narrative of what the world is, and when it can't look good for them no matter how they spin it, they grab their sides and start calling foul whiles sobbing at the top of their lungs. I'm not saying every republican acts this way or believes this bullshit but it's FAAAAR to common for a very long time to be ignored as just a minor fringe minority of the larger conservative party.

It's rather well known that Rush takes up to 30 ambien tablets per day. He's constantly tripping balls, which explains his bizarre rantings quite well really.

I would imagine based on the trailers how Bane is somehow associated with the whole "Screw the rich!" and "What's left for us?!" mentality that's going on in the film that if anything the Bane character could be used in the opposite direction against the democrats, but then again I have no clue if that's what it will actually end up being.
