Honestly, I've never even heard of this "Bain Capital," and I highly doubt that this would affect Romney's campaign, even IF the character was named for that and not after AN ALREADY-EXISTING COMIC BOOK CHARACTER, FUCK.

It's stories like this that lead me to believe that "Rush Limbaugh: Radio Personality" is just a character he plays. I just don't think he's real. Between poorly thought out stories like this to his spots on Family Guy. I just think he's an entertainer and his niche is "pants on head retarded conservative radio host".
Definitely this. I also see his persona on TV in cartoon form in Ben 10 and Young Justice.

Oh boy. It's at moments like this I'm glad that I'm not a huge fan of Batman, otherwise I'd probably lose my shit over stuff like this.

Not just Limbaugh who makes these rediculous claims. So... w/e Both sides are idiotic enough to draw stupid connections to something that is completely irrelevent to the current political scene.

Thanks for the comparison, Rush! Like I need anymore reasons not to like Romney, now he's retroactively being associated with genius criminal masterminds that will break the Batman? Ha! Like I'd vote for that! To think, it means the other side has time travel, went back, and coerced DC into making the character in their classic Knightfall comics, so that when the eventual movie was made, it would conveniently be run alongside an election campaign where one candidate used to work for a play on words of the villain!

Now, let me ask you, Rush: Why wouldn't we vote for the guys with Time Travel?

Yeah, an idiotic and ignorant thing for Rush to say to be sure, but Rush Limbaugh is so discredited that it's almost a straw-man. This doesn't say anything about the election. It mainly reaffirms how utterly irrelevant Limbaugh's opinion and political perspective is. I don't know what his ratings are but while high, they are a tiny fraction of the voting population and mostly preaching to die-hard GOP voters who aren't going to swing one way or another anyway.

Still, the ACTUAL established arguments for Romney as a president (of anything, let alone POTUS) are also easy to demolish, I think the best argument being that the GOP is clearly NOT nominating their best candidate as they know that the incumbent Obama is so likely to get re-elected. They are only letting Romney have a shot to get him out of the way come 2016 election, and they don't want to just blow him off and risk losing his Olympic size swimming pool full of campaign cash.

This is a home guard action, but I'm very confident Obama will win unless he does something insane that makes him unelectable, like, say that he is an Atheist (to be fair, that'd probably make you unelectable in the UK as well). But really, the only real chance the NEW president of the United States is going to be in 2016, where irritable Hilary Clinton will probably end up going against a charming all-smiles Republican who will make the nation (or at least the swing voters) choose between "fun dad, or mean mom".

If only Ole Billie Clinton could stand for a third term. I'd definitely like to see him back and active in US politics, perhaps as Secretary of State. He'd make a perfect ambassador, even to the UN.

I can't believe that much stupidity can be so high up the political ladder...
Rush Limbaugh isn't high up the political ladder, he has never been elected for anything nor even stood for election, he has never been appointed to any public officer nor even run a significant NGO. He's just a radio show host with a very small following, the only reason anyone other than his small group of listeners know of him is because he says the absolutely dumbest things that are so dumb they are worth repeating to consider how dumb they are. And he's written some books that would be more appropriately described as "overpriced door stops".

Most people who know Rush Limbaugh know him as an ass.

See I'm for disagreeing with the guy. I'm for calling his points silly, but to say he doesn't have a small following, and he does have political impact is some kind of ignorance. I dont agree with Mr. Limbaugh on most things... to say the majority of what he believes, but still I understand the facts of the situation. He makes silly points, and you should ignore them as such. It doesn't warrent making false claims that really don't help your point, it's just making an ad populum attack. Most of your information is either rumor spread as fact or unfounded assertion. Sooooo yeah... I don't like him much... but I also don't feel it neccisary to rag on the guy and have a session of mutual political masterbation with the rest of the Escapist community.

Clearly DC have been planning this for 20 years. Right? That must be it! ¬_¬

How can anyone with a brain take this moron even remotely seriously?
He kind of awnsered your question:

So, slight diversion on the thread, then. Who here wonders what the ACTOR for Bane thinks of all this?

Hopefully, "Limbaugh's punishment must be more severe."

Did anyone actually click through to the transcript on his website? And, y'know, actually read what Rush said in context? He wasn't positing the idea that the character of Bane was created as a representative of Romney. He was commenting on a prior discussion elsewhere that people may associate the character Bane with Romney, and whether or not this was intentional
...and thus, at best, he's dredging up a ludicrous theory and propagating it when it's clearly BS and easily falsified. At worst, he's using the old "weasel words" method to put forward an idea (that everyone in the media is a lefty gubbermint-lovin' socialist) which the speaker subscribes to or believes, without wanting to say as much.

Either way, he's showing his colours and his ignorance.

Well of course, DC Comics is just one cog in the vast communist conspiracy to destroy the country through gay, Satanic propaganda and make Robot-Hitler-Muslim Obama the supreme socialist ruler of the world.

Thank you Rush for sorting out this elaborate mystery. Bless you, sir.

WTF mate? I never said he had "no political impact" I said he was not high up the political ladder, that is he is not actually IN any part of any political establishment. He has no political influence.

I didn't make any false claims. It is not a rumour that he has never been elected for anything, nor ever stood for any election, this is a fact. Nor has he been appointed to any political office anywhere. He is not in political nor even put a single foot on the political ladder.

How am I "ragging on him" saying that he is NOT an amazing high influence politician, neither am I, neither are any of the people on this forum.

"but to say he doesn't have a small following"

Where do you get this from? I say he does not have a large following but INSTEAD HAS GOT a small following... why? My post is DIRECTLY above, why did you not read it?!!?

There is good evidence that Rush has a very small audience for a country of One Third of a billion people:
http://articles.businessinsider.com/2012-03-13/news/31158380_1_limbaugh-average-quarter-hour-radio-stations

I think its very illustrative that he doesn't have any ads on his radio show.

By emphasising how detached he is from politics, that gives reason for people to ignore him, I am saying he is just an idiot with a radio show.

He IS well known outside his group of listeners as being an ass.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rush%20limbaugh I don't know what better proof than this you can want but people know who he is yet have never listened to his radio show yet hold a negative opinion of him.

People of certain political beliefs become amazingly adept at tuning out the mocking laughter and just hearing what they want to hear.

Oh Rush, you so crazy. I'll listen to him from time to time just for the comedy, I'm honestly not sure if he's actually serious about what he's saying half the time but it's hilarious either way.

I love you Rush, you big goofball.
