"S**t just got real" moments

For me, the best "shit just got real moments" occur around 2/3 through the story. It doesn't have the same weight if it's at the very beginning or very end. So far, the Mass Effect series is paramount in this regard, with both installments provoking me literally to say the phrase in question. Both spoilers:

In Mass Effect, Virmire. Losing Ash or Kaiden and possibly Wrex AND figuring out the truth about the Reapers from Sovereign. In Mass Effect 2, Joker's mission when the Collectors raid the Normandy.

Also, the voice change of the Administrator from HL2: Episode 1 to Episode 2. In HL2 en EP1 she's kind of passive aggresive, giving orders and threats, in a calm and detached tone.
However, after the destruction of the Citadel her voice becomes very hard and aggresive, the Combine are now hell-bent on killing Freeman and Vance - more than ever.

The f#cking bear chase during Condemned 2. I am now permanently phobic of bears ever since that game.

The werewolf chase and that HAUNTED MANSION during Vampire: The Masquerade. Also, the endgame up the LaCroix tower. Good god were there some intense moments in that game.

Some great moments in Dragon Age, too. Especially the endgame and going through the Deep Roads when you find out about the Broodmother. :O

The voice acting is just so fucking perfect it's scary.

Hearing Fleet Command's stoic voice tremble for just a moment puts more emotion into that one scene than there is in most games' entire story.

Sure I have more but due to the excess amounts of alcohol I've consumed like they're health potions in an old school romp through Diablo 2, only a few I can really think of... clearly anyways.

First one that popped up would be the whole Aeris thing, you know, when the two characters with the most wicked bangs have their climatic interaction. At that time, I was young and my best friend and I were completely into the game at the moment. I think he cried. Then shit got real. Word.

The Baldur's Gate series is another, too. Lots of moments in that got me real vendetta-swords-flashing-John-Woo-revenge-wanton-... you get it. Yeah... Between our little innocent and lovable scamp, Imoen being captured and whoever the hell you wanted to " get nasty " with death. Good stuff.

Prey too, specially given the protagonist actually vocalizes himself after the feces had indeed become factual. Strong stuff.

I notice a strong trend in my drunken words. So, like Max Payne said in his comic book-esque manner, it all starts with the death of a women. Fa' shizzle. /pass out.

BF: Bad Company 2.

There was actually a squad that tried to take revenge on me after I wasted their entire squad when they tried to place a bomb on the M-com station.

I was a recon in a house when I spotted one of them and I tried to snipe him but he went into cover and I saw his other pals in his squad. And they all were engineers.

They started shooting rockets into the house, I barely fled from the barrage of rockets into the ground floor of the house then I saw that they were coming into the house, I planted C4s and Motion Sensor bombs all over the place in a haste and knifed myself through the backdoor. I saw one explosion in the corner of my eye and then triggered the C4.

All of them died.

Then I saw the tank coming at me near the now destroyed house.

"Sh** just got real." I told myself.

I love this game.

I've been looking for a new game to play on live since people on MW2 learned how to fly (I'm not kidding. that game is so broken), and you just helped me decide on one. thank you
