We can complain about the weather, but it's either that or jumping spiders and I know which one I'd rather have. But then again! Great Whites spotted off the coast of Scotland, apparently. So I'm not swimming any time soon.
We do have jumping spiders. They're harmless.

Top scary animals:

humans

candiru
deadly jellyfish
hookworm
mamba / cobra / krait / that kind of deadly snake that doesn't warn you first
plasmodium (one of those nasty things mosquitoes spread)
brown recluse spiders
black widow spiders

scorpion fish, lion fish and that kind of thing
Komodo dragons, because their mouths are filthy.

I'm not that bothered about most sharks. Bull and tiger are kind of bad, but they're not that bad and it's easy to not share a room with them. You don't have to worry about them curling up in your shoes at night.

Basking sharks, whale sharks and dwarf sharks are particularly easy fish by which to remain untroubled. I'm too big! Even many of the large carnivorous ones are occasionally recorded coming up for a good rub and scratch from a friendly diver. They clearly don't attack everyone they meet. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1nPHZ6joaU] No way do those fish or these ones [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvyRypo6YqA] not know the divers are there.

Here's another scary animal: http://www.dpd.cdc.gov/dpdx/html/schistosomiasis.htm

Judging by the papers here, the world's scariest animal is a pig with a runny nose.

I would have to say that the scariest animal known to man is in fact what ever the hell Cthulu is supposed to be.

Seriously.

Not really afraid of many animals. Since this country doesn't really have any deadly ones, I've no reason to fear them. Plus working with animals builds up your confidence slightly. But we have a Giant Centipede at college, this thing is fast, can make you seriously ill if not kill you if it's bite and it eats meat. Needless to say, not many staff go near it.

Magpies, I have a huge phobia of them, I would rather swim with sharks than go in a cage with magpies.
That'd be because, deep down, you've sensed that magpies are cunning, devious, sharp-eyed, heavy-beaked, home-wrecking, baby-snatching, murderous, psychotic, vicious brutes ... and I still think they can tell when someone's aiming at them.

I thought it was obvious, people! Dick Cheney is the scariest animal. His predatory instincts are so far off the charts that he decapitates chickens. With his teeth.

Pit Bulls. Combine them with stupid humans who leave them near children...

A lot of species of bugs and fish (mostly deep-sea) give me the wibblies,
but who isn't scared of these bastards?

I cant remember the name, but it burrows into a large fish's mouth, eats it's tongue, then sits there and eat bits of food in it's mouth. anyone who can tell me the name gets money. or not. probably not.

Edit: It's the Tongue-eating louse. Thanks Shoqiyqa, You win 10 hypothetical dollars!

Water Bears. Imagine cockroaches on steroids. Cockroaches are supposed to be the ultimate survivors. Water Bears survive what cockroaches don't. Water Bears can survive 10 years without water, up to 303F(150C), down (as close to as we can get) to absolute zero, 1000 times more radiation than humans, and even in the vacuum of space O_O. Clearly water bears are the new rulers of the world and thus should be feared!

the cheetah. "Look at that son-of-a-***** haul ass. Damn Nature you scary!"
Naah, I disagree with Family Guy.

How can that be scary!!

I'm not sure how I'd select my most feared creature, so I'll choose a couple of different situations.

In its own element - Sharks, eating machines that attack from below and hit hard.

In a phonebox - Bears.

This exactly, and I know right, they used to sense me loading my bag with heavy books to hit them with when I had to walk anywhere near them while I was at school, and steered clear, which was fine by me.
