Saddest Character Deaths

John Marston in RDR. That has seriously gotta be the saddest death I've ever seen in a game.
Oh and one of the bad endings to SH2 where James rows the boat into the lake to kill himself for what he did
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. You really felt a connection between the prince and Farah, so when she... well... At least you can time travel, I'll leave it at that!

Seeing Heather die if you choose to keep her around. First and only time a game has ever made me feel like a monster by demonstrating the consequences of my actions. I knew I shouldn't have kept her around, and I knew something bad was going to happen. But damn it, you're not supposed to kill a character like 'that'. There's supposed to be a chance to save her, or at least a dramatic cinematic with sad music. As it is she's simply killed, and I was left feeling vaguely puzzled and hurt.

When both Light and L died. L dies when Light successfully manipulated Rem to kill him. Light dies when he's finally found out and killed by Ryuk. I honor both their Memories.

This might only be because I've played the games forever and have a connection to them.
Also, I'm sure if Joss Whedon ever makes a game, that'll be mentioned in this post. He likes to get people invested in characters and then kill them.
You don't see her die, but that flashback Chris has in the beginning to Jill's grave? Hit me like a punch in the gut.

Most of the stuff that stuck with me has already been mentioned(BTW wolfwood did not die in the trigun manga,or so I heard).
One I can think of is the sister to whats his name in WIdd Arms 2 that was a bit of a WTF.
Another WTF is FO3 tenpenny tower massacre.

I didn't cry or anything at these points but it did make me feel bad and like a bit of a bastard.In MGS4 after each beauty drebin gives you a back story on her and their all quite sad and makes me feel bad for killing them.

Every team mate that dies in MW2. Mostly, when they move into my line of fire at the wrong moment.
It usually hits me when the firefight is over, and I realise that its just me and the key characters left, all the non-speaking characters having gone down. ;-;

Tai, say what you like about Maria's death, but seeing Tai kill himself was shocking and tragic.

Army of Two: 40th Day, JB's death if you save him is sad. He was just chilling out and... well go find out for yourself.

I would say that there are a few deaths in supernatural that are sad, mostly because they are typically sacrifices. The slaughter of the pagan gods is a shame as is the death of the trickster not to mention the fact that Ash died in the tavern explosion (but at least he gets his own slice of heaven).
