I'm going to have to go with Eli's death in Half Life 2: Ep 2 as well. It was the saddest character death by far. The death of Big Mama (Eva) in MGS4 was a heavy one too though.

Because you just had to put this in Gaming Discussion, Srg. Johnson in Halo 3. For non-gaming deaths, Joyce Summers in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The entire episode "The Body" had me in tears for 40something minutes.

Yeah I can see people rolling out the deaths in animes already.

When Sergeant Avery Johnson died in Halo 3. If you've read the Halo novels, then you'll know that he went through a lot. He even was a SPARTAN I himself.

When Dom 'sends' Maria to a better place in Gears of War 2. The music, camera angles and voice acting was all quite touching. I'm surprised he made it through to Gears 3 though. What can you do for a man who has lost his wife, children, parents and brother?

. Incredibly well done with the best voice acting ever, atmospheric music and location...everything about it was perfectly sad and depressing.

That was a quality scene. Shit, it was a quality game. You were like totally powerless to do anything to help save her. Then, after you die, you wake up in world war 1 and its like GOD THIS GAME GETS MORE AND MORE AWESOME!!!!11111 > /rant.
