Some spoilerific ME3 stuff going on here, so I'm doing my best not to look at all the comments. But to continue the trend, I just got to a certain point in the game last night. The Blue Rose of Illium. I had to step away from the game for a minute.
Oh yeah, forgot about that one. That hit especially hard since the original ME2 quest was a light-hearted comedy-thing. And then that...ouch.
Wait, when did THAT happen?! I thought I'd done every sidequest but I never found out about this.
During the Rachni mission, one of the webs on the walls hides the corpse of Charr. Find it and you can deliver his dying message (a poem) to his Asari wife (Ereba, I believe).

Oh and this, definitively this.
Captcha: baked in a pie. WTFuck?

I felt cheated with MGS4's actual ending, but I did get emotional for most of the game's final act. There's something haunting about that pastiche of all the main character's heroic last stands as you are making yours that is very haunting and emotional.

Infamous 2's "good" ending was a tearjerker. Again its the heroic sacrifice aspect that gets to me.

SPOILER

My little Darkling buddy dying in Darkness 2. It's a lot more heartbreaking then it sounds.

When ***Spoiler***, Thane dies in Mass Effect 3 and you pray with Kolyat. Game's have made me sad, maybe even teary before, but nothing made me cry so hard as losing Thane. I wasn't even playing a femshep, he was just a good honest friend that deserved a better death. Despite this I think Bioware did the right thing, Thane was supposed to die through lore, and glad he went out a hero.

Death of the little boy in the beginning of Mass Effect 3.
I cried for 20 minutes and had to call my best friend for support - I feel no shame!

I was actually saddened when Dad from Fallout 3 was disappointed in my choices but I don't know if thats sad or just Liam making me ashamed of myself. Course then he died.

Zacks death in Crisis core, I KNEW it was coming because you know, he's dead in FF7 but the way they did it was just so damn sad. especially with all the letters.

Nearly 70 posts and everyone has completely forgotten to mention the horse from Shadow of the Collosus. It doesn't lessen the impact just because he came back later on either.

I thought that the way subject Delta died after all he did and everything that happened to him. Experimented on and driven by an implanted compulsion to protect Eleanor he fought through it all and made it, but he didn't survive the escape.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NtWeTrLQk8

The Darkness. I don't care what you say, that was without a doubt the worst. Possibly since you actually could connect to the characters.

Also, Dark Souls had a few. Particularly, having to fight your friends if they go Hollow, Quelaag's Sister, and fighting Gwyn.

The "sad" moment just before every single ending in Little Busters = Tears in my eyes.

Let's see...

- Agro's "death" in SotC
- Evil ending with zeke in infamous 2
- MGS3 ending
- MGS4 ending, both the microwave walk and the final cutscenes (admittedly I read some spoilers before playing that, and I thought that everyone was gunned down during the microwave walk. I probably wouldn't have felt so sad if I knew everyone was going to be okay)

aaand from me3, mordin, thane, and legions death. And tali's from youtube videos. And some of the dialogue before the last mission.

Most of those made me cry, if not tear up a little. The actual me3 ending had me crying as well, but for completely different reasons.
