How has no one even given mention to ME2:Overlord DLC (included in the PS3 version)?
5 pages and not even a mention? (Yes... this thread is the one that lured me out of lurker status... >.<)

First they give you bits of flash backs as David shows you what Archer's experiments were doing to him...
Then when you beat the boss you find the autistic David begging for it to stop, and you see the whole thing he's hooked up to. (crying of course)
And then Archer comes out and tries to tell you how it somehow got out of control and he didn't mean to let it get that far, all the youtube videos of the paragon ending choose the "until people started dying" text, but honestly if you watched the flashbacks you know the other choice, the one where you accuse him of lying is more appropriate there.
Archer then goes on to try and justify his actions...
Then finally admits what he's done is immoral, looks his brother in the eyes, and then asks you to let him keep his brother anyway...
As I've read some commentators on youtube inevitably say in some variation or another on the various videos of this ending... "You know you've Effed up when the paragon interrupt is a pistol whip to the face..."

"The square root of 912.04 is 30.2... It all seemed harmless"

That one wasn't sad (for me) it was horrifying.

The death of Saren at the end of the game.

Odd choice, I know, but there's a reason behind it. At the very tail end of the game in the Citadel Council's Chambers you face Saren one last time in a last ditch effort to stop him from opening the Citadel Relay to Dark Space. Instead of just fighting him, though, you have the option of trying to reason with him.

If you Paragon or Renegade scores are high enough (like my Paragon was), it works. For a brief moment Saren fights back from Soverign's control and regains his free will just to see what's he's become. Just to see how far he's fallen. He knows that what he's been manipulated into doing is vile in every sense of the word and he knows that he's beyond saving. He can't break free forever. There is no helping him.

So in his last moment he takes matters into his own hands. He says goodbye to Shepard and thanks her before he puts his own gun to his head and pulls the trigger.

The sad part really sets in moments later during the final fight of the game. Soverign uses the Reaper tech implanted inside of Saren to reanimate his corpse and try to kill Shepard. This entire scenario is just so damn depressing. Even after taking his own life to break free of the Indoctrination Soverign essentially renders Saren's last act pointless. Not even death will release him from the Reaper's service. There truly was no saving him.

Ok, I'll give you that...
To me though, the look in David's eyes...
On the other hand, when they cut to Archer, I too was horrified that someone could do something like that to another person (much less his brother) and angry that Pistol Whipping him was the worst I was allowed to do to him.

First game I played when we got a PS2 when I was wee, MoH: Frontline. Just the music throughout the "Arnhem Knights" level, overlapped with the ruined town and some history knowledge, the level just feels terribly sad and desperate.

I'm a sucker for the Final Fantasy game endings.

Bawled my eyes out over Crisis Core, even though I'd already played FFVII and knew how it was going to go. Aeris in VII had me sniffling as well (I was 17, alright?). Quite a bit of Dirge of Cerberus as well, if I'm honest, but a lot of that is due to rabid Vincent fangirlism.

Ending of VIII, I was fine until the cutscene went to Laguna standing by the gravestone, then I went to pieces. And X when Tidus leaves - I didn't even like him all that much, but that was apparently no bar to Square tugging at my heartstrings.

Otherwise, there's been a few bits in Silent Hills and Mass Effects that get me. Oh, and Dragon Age: Origins, too. I did a save where I let Alistair kill the Archdemon to get the achievement, and couldn't make it through with dry eyes.

It occurs to me that I'm getting remarkably girly in my old age.

The ending to Sly 2. It was sad to see a turtle get crushed by a giant metallic beak.
The fact that Sly is the kind of game where everybody turns out ok in the end kinda ruined the sadness factor for me, but yeah, that was pretty sad =(
