When Isara died in Valkyria Chronicles
Yeah that part was just horrible, well pretty much most parts of Valkyria were extremely sad.
I agree with this, I wasn't expecting it at all.

I'm surprised that no-one mentioned Portal 2. When I found the radio playing Exile Vilify, it really choked me up.

gonna try and keep this spoiler clean.

The conclusion of Mass Effect 2's opening.

Lisa's realisation that she was...already part of "the club" in Silent Hill.

The Darkness....Hell that entire game is The Never Ending Story of video games. Every moment gets progressively more depressing.

Bio Shock 2's good ending. It's sad but in a good way.

Shadow Hearts 1&2. Anyone that has played that probably knows who I'm talking about.

Final Fantasy VIII - When Rinoa and Squall are in the Ragnarok and Rinoa says she's scared and Squall holds her comfortingly. The timing of the music was great.

Final Fantasy X - The end. You know what I mean.

The saddest moment in a game... The only game to EVER make me tear up a bit was in XCOM when Jurgen Berger, my highest ranked soldier and sole survivor of the original team, was mind controlled and forced to kill half his team before the rookie put him down.

Wait. Letting them die was the PARAGON option? Good thing I'm going renegade this playthrough then.

Aslo, Captcha was Council Escitat. Odd, considering we are talking about the council...
Ops, I apologize. It was the Renegade obviously. Edited post for correction.

I did a playthrough where I saved them, then uploaded it into ME2.. and they STILL treat me like dicks. Never.Ever.Again.

Also.. you saved Kaiden over Ashley? Really? I can't take Kaiden seriously with that douchey-hair and the fact that his V.A. played a really pathetic pedophile on Law and Order SVU and now plays Jimminey-frigging-Cricket on Once Upon a Time. I romanced him in a play through JUST so I could cheat on him with Garrus.
In ME2, regardless of who you save in ME1, you will be treated like a dick. So much for being a saviour.

Video is not mine. It's one I found on Youtube. I saved Ashley myself, for no good, as it turns out she loathed me like the plague.
Ahh, apologies then. Well, since she's coming back in ME3 maybe she'll forgive you. I know Kaiden sent me some email apologizing for how he treated me on the colony, but I was like "screw you, I've got me some Garrus."

And I know no matter what choice you make, people *****. But the "ahh yes, Reapers..." comment from the Turian council member pissed me teh hell off.

The beginning of ME2. I had no words to describe my feelings, then I got mad, and then I was happy again when I came one step closer to becoming Cyborg-Pirate-Ninja-Raptor-Jesus.

For me the ONLY game to evoke actual emotion was the ending to final fantasy 9

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbqVyN4iueE

After my first playthrough it left such a bitter-sweet sadness that I had to reload an old save and just walk around Lindblum 'til the weeping stopped.

When Team Ninja ruined Samus, one of my favorite video game characters. Seriously though, the ending to Mother 3 is probably one of the saddest video game moments in my opinion.

Lost Odyssey

just thinking of it makes me sad.

*snif*

when Kaim's mother dies

I only got halfway through the game but do you mean Lirum? Cause she was Cooke and Mack's mother, she was Kaim's daughter which made it all the more sad.

Been a while since I played it but FFVI had its moments.

Aerith's death in Final Fantasy VII.

/thread
Aww, wha? Thanks for spoiling that >=/
*SNIP*
Oh, you must be the 0.01% of the population that doesn't know that Aerith Dies
I didn't, and since I started playing FF7 not too long ago, learning it on a forum wasn't exactly the way I wanted to figure it out... Not everyone follows the same game-series y'know =/
I'm pretty sure spoiling that is akin to spoiling that Snape kills Dumbledore and Rosebud was the sled.
Actually, just watched that movie Monday, did not expect it to be the sled

At the end of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, when
Eli Vance dies, impaled by one of the alien overlords. It was as sad as it was shocking.

The "good" ending to Bioshock.

At the end of Call of Duty 4 when
everyone dies, or at least SEEMS to die. In retrospect, it is not quite dramatic a loss as I and most of the gaming world believed back then.

The first Drawn to Life.

For such a cartoony game, it took a very serious route with the Mayor and Mari

The most recent for me would come from Batman Arkham City. It may be because I love the character so much, as otherwise I'd be glad, but in AC
the end, when the Joker dies of the Titan disease

Just tears me up, not to mention that it's an obvious sign that excellent game is basically over, which is enough to invoke tears all on it's own, a rare event.

One of the most tragic parts of any game I've ever played. I've barely played Shadow Hearts 2 specifically because it follows the bad ending of 1. After working so hard to get the Good ending in Shadow Hearts and finding out that 2 followed the other one, I just couldn't bring myself to continue playing, and I haven't since, and that was YEARS ago.

The conclusion to Red Dead Redemption. I was not actually prepared for that.
That's pretty much the only part of RDR that I didn't like, not only did it only have 1 ending (rendering the Honor/Dishonor system moot) it was a downer ending that made me feel like the ENTIRE game was completely pointless.
