Oh Jeez, how could I forget Dreamfall: The Longest Journey? That game has some ridiculously 'sad' music in gaming history.

Seriously, I DARE you to listen to this first track and not feel down.



They even had a professional 'sad love song' band do a song for them.

Ok, it's not the game's song, but the song that's played during the end credits of Mass Effect (M4 Part 2 by the Faunts) is a bit sad sounding to me, but is still awesome.

Although not really sad, Cohen's Masterpiece (BioShock) is just so...I don't know how to really describe it. It's so beautiful, so mournful, full or sorrow, anger and joy.

The Love Theme from Mass Effect was brutally sad. Especially since it plays:

Yeah, that was sad.

The music to the credits for Twilight Princess (especially when it slows down) almost had me in tears. Of course, the cutscene that plays and the fact that I never wanted the game to end may also have been a factor.

Anyway, it's not so much a song, but the supernatural sound effects in FEAR just sound so...well, melancholy after your final encounter with Alma. It's probably just my imagination, but that's how it seems.

It is just awesome, hearing it, after you got through the game on "Dead on arrivel"- mode when Mona survives the end, Max's problems are solved and he says: "I had a dream of my wife... She was dead, but it was all right" and this song begins to play... awesome.

Heh the beginning of the piano version always reminds me of the opening theme to a soap opera lol. Still a great and timeless theme.
