Having had no response from ThreeWords for a while, I'm gonna go right ahead and continue without him.
A brief conversation with Jon later, Rochelle continued down the hall and entered room 219. She dumped one suitcase on the one bed that hadn't been taken and leaned the other up against it.
"So, this is my new place," she said to no-one in particular.
Max headed back to his dorm room laughing all the while. Opening the door, he let out a sigh as he collapsed onto his matress in the center of the room. Reaching into his bag, he took out his pipe and put it between his mouth. There were a few dregs left of his Strain in shoddy leaves at the cusp of the pipe, so he brushed them into the hole and sucked, hard. The buzz hit him instantly and the wold seemed to freeze around him. Gravity seemed to increase tenfold and his limbs became lifeless.
He somehow craned his neck and looked out the window. There were students hurrying themselves into the great double doors, running late or catching up with some old friends. Birds flew into their trees as the sun began to set, casting a glorious firey light across the landscape. He was about to turn around again when his eyes caught something.
A girl was standing on the path, not too far from the entrance of the forest. She was the most beautiful thing that Max had ever seen, long golden hair hanging down to her shoulder blades. She was wearing a brilliant white dress with matching shoes and her bare legs were a perfect milky colour. However, it was the eyes that really drew Max in. Deep black eyes that on anyone else would look slightly disturbing, but not on her. She was smiling and staring directly at Max, twiddling her delicate fingers in a shy wave. He smiled broadly and waved back. Suddenly, a noise behind him cut his attention short and he snapped his head back to see what was going on. Seeing nothing, he glanced back at the exact same spot she had been before and couldn't see her anyway. Frowning a little, he turned over and lay his head on the matress.
Class starts tomorrow... he thought, dreary from the Grass. Might see her around
His eyes closed over, he drifted off to a slumberless sleep
This is all I'm posting on the first day. Onerius, should we sometimes fast forward into a couple of months at a time? Just so we don't go day by day. Just a thought.
@Gorrister: I don't think that's a good idea - the people who age will age too fast and leave the others behind. Plus it'll break the flow a lot. But that's just my opinion.
Dillon ran to the window just a little too late, to see the demon disappearing into the distance with Carolina in his clutches. "Shit, this isn't good." he thought worriedly. "He wouldn't hurt her, would he? I doubt it. Imagine the trouble he'd be in..."
Despite this reasoning, he couldn't help but feel helpless. There was nothing he could do to help - nothing to do except wait and see what happens. What a first day this was turning out to be.
A violent bubbling noise told him that the teapot was starting to boil over, and he quickly hurried over to take it off the hob. Well there was no point in making tea now, and it was hardly the right time to be worrying about drinks. He looked out the window again, squinting to try and find the two figures in the surrounding area. Wherever they were, he couldn't see them. "Don't worry, she'll be fine." he reassured himself. "She seemed like the type who could look after herself."
He walked across the room and threw himself onto the couch, and looked over at Nathan. "Maybe you should leave... I think that's enough for one evening."
He realised that he must've sounded quite rude, and decided to try and salvage it. "But your welcome to wait here if you want to."
Rochelle looked around the room; no-one else was around. Just the way she liked it when she needed to unpack or study. She closed the door as she realized she needed a drink: it had been a long day so far.
She opened the fridge and looked inside, finding a jug of water amongst other things. The cupboard above the fridge yielded a glass, and Rochelle downed two mouthfuls of the frigid water. She shivered slightly with the cold, causing her wings to flutter slightly.
The bite scars on her neck grew colder. Rochelle brought a hand to the left side of her throat, where the marks still stuck out from her skin. The scars became even colder as her fingers brushed them.
Her thoughts turned to that fateful night as she turfed the suitcase off of her bed and lay down on it.
Fight it, Rochelle... you're stronger than this...
She closed her eyes and tried to block the flow of images in her head, but couldn't. They had already taken too strong a hold.
The blood-red leer from his eyes as he stood over her bound body, as she lay paralyzed, her breathing becoming shallower in dread of what was to come...
her scream of fear and pain as he brought his fangs to her throat...
the flash of silver burning him to ash on the spot, just before he could deliver the bite to kill, yet after the first taste had been taken...
Incapable of resistance, Rochelle broke down completely, and tears of agony poured from her eyes as she relived the horrors of her waking nightmare in her mind.
Lillith laid down upon the metal floor of the van, staring dreamily out of the front window into the American nighttime skies. Over the dull vibrations of the van's chassis she could hear Blue and Red having a conversation, possibly about Mister White and his wife at home. She tuned it out, instead playing about with her bracelet and imagining what her new school would be like...
Would she fit in? Would she be able to find a new set of friends? Would people make fun of her accent? She worried about a few of these things but she mostly set her fears aside. She had already been to one school like this one. Surely it can't be that different, can it?
While she pondered this she felt the vehicle suddenly lurch and begin to rumble violently. She sat up, resting her arms over the seats in front. "Wooh..." She leaned forwards so that she could see the school better. It was so... different. A welcome change to the black van and the stuffy boxes she had been in for the better part of today. Her first feeling was one of trepidation, with a vague afterthought of excitement.
Mister Blue chuckled. "Pick your jaw up, Miss DeVtoe. We can't have you falling to pieces before you even step in the door, can we?"
Miss Red looked back, her skin was bubbling slightly yet she paid it no heed, instead starting to lecture Lillith. "Lillith, as soon as you get out of this van we're pretty much gone for good. You never see us again and everything gets to be normal again." She forced a map into the Lamia's hand, "You go straight to the dorms and you make friends with the first person you find. You got that? No-one will notice that you just arrived, the teachers won't care and it'll be like you were here the entire time."
Lillith nodded and unfurled the map, looking for where the dorms were.
Miss Red smiled and got out of the van. For the brief second in which the agent wasn't visible, Lillith heard a crack and a sigh of relief. The door slid open and she slithered out, with Miss Red now sporting a set of leathery wings, a tail and two short horns. "You have no idea how good it is to get out of that body." She chuckled.
As if on cue Mister Blue was also getting out of the van, clumps of his flesh now falling away to leave the rotting physique that Lillith had first known. Lillith smiled.
"Thank you. So much... You really don't know how much this means to me."
"We can guess. Now go on. Blue and I have work to do."
Lillith nodded and started to slither away towards the dormitories, leaving the black van behind her.
Er... Anyone still looking for a roomie? Cause we just so happen to have a snakelady without a room now.
Best get on up to the room ASAP then, 'cause Lillith's gonna turn it into her own little cave if you take too long. =P
And what room numbers are already in use? I want to put Lillith fairly close to the rest of you guys.
She slowly made her way up the stairs, cursing the fact that their were so many of them, and quickly checked a couple of rooms as she went by them. For the most part it looked like people were getting to know each other. Good. It meant that she wasn't too late.
She decided it would be best to follow the advice Miss Red had given her and try to find someone to talk to. Someone approachable. Someone who wouldn't ask too many questions.
Try to get a room that is 3##. Third floor is where the party is at!
Nathan was making his way downstairs when he saw a woman who appeared to be half snake and half women going up the stairs, and appeared to be very lost.
"Excuse me" he said politely "But you appear to be lost, could I point you in the right direction?"
Oh! Someone was talking to her. She might manage to get a friend before the first day ended. She tried not to look too happy about it. It might freak him out.
You're thinking too much! Answer the man already!
"Uh... Sorta. Just looking around for a room. Turns out that I don't really have one yet..." She made a sort of muddled up confused face.
"You don't mind helping me find one, do you?" She asked, hopefully.
Say yes, say no, I don't mind. I'll go for 357 either way.
Not getting anything in the way of an answer from Nathan, Sven decided to just head back to his room. I should probably get my stuff situated before my roommates get there. Maybe some music will help me get my mind off the demon. He was still trying to calm himself down enough to turn human when he felt himself step on something. He looked down to see what appeared to be a suitcase... with wierd looking spider legs coming out of it. He slowly lifted his foot off and watched as the thing tried to scurry away, only to run into the righthand wall. Crap, now I'm gonna make another enemy.
"Hm?" Alex said "Unit 3 has what? Fair enough Charles instruct the rest of the luggage to continue to ehm what was it again? Oh yes 356 and to begin unpacking and disassembly. I'll be there soon." With that he made his way back down the corridor to where Unit 3 was busy trying to scale a wall.
"Unit 3 how many times do I have to tell you. You are not a spider." He looked at a person who was standing looking worried. Ancestral memories and warning signs started screaming at him in the back of his mind a single word "Lycan" but he ignored them as he always did. "It's kinda sad you know if they resemble a form for too long they start to believe they are that form. At least he isn't trying to catch flies this time. That was an absolute nuisance and really upset my brother. Anyway its nothing a quick short" he kicked the suitcase "kick won't fix. Well sorry if he caused you any embarrassment/trauma he should be back to normal. Charles give him his instructions please."
He looked back at the boy who had an expression of absolute confusion instead of apprehension now.
They both set off down the corridor he had pointed out to her. She was slightly afraid that she was making the wrong first impression, as though he might think she was a bit lost and confused all the time.
"So, er... Is this your first year at Poemandre's?" She asked, making smalltalk to break the silence during the walk.
All of Sven's pent-up anger about his demon problems dissipated, if only temporarily, to be replaced by confusion about this new person.
OK, what the hell? This guy practically screams "Nutjob." But what exactly is he? If I had to guess, I'd say vampire. Wait, do vampires hate werewolves? Well, it wouldn't hurt to apologize either way.
"I should be the one who's sorry. I didn't mean to break your... thing. Sven Torgerson, by the way. And you are...?" Sven offered his hand to the gentleman.
