So long as there isn't a "ZOMG I'VE GOT SHINER ARMOR THAT YOU" battle in it somewhere, I see this being decent even if I don't like WoW that much :p (Warcraft 3 FTW)

I honestly don't think the space goats ruined any part of the lore at all. Considering they're just essentially defected Eredar.

Sargeras chose his lieutenants (Both space goats, Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde) long before the Draenei appeared. So if you took out the "space goats," you're taking out the Sunwell, Draenor, Fel Orcs which domino'd right into the fall of Grom Hellscream through Mannoroth (which has a part in Illidan's story as well, in being that the Black Temple was originally ruled by the Draenei, taken over by Mannoroth, then again taken by Illidan.)

You take out space goats, you take out a whole lot of the lore.

i hope one of the lines is
"dammit ive got to do another grind quest before i can tank sorry guys maybe next raid"
Yeah, maybe you should play the game first before scripting it ;) HAHA DISREGARD THAT IM STUPID
I did, I played the free trail and got bored out off my mind, i don't know how people can play that game.
Because maybe MMOGs aren't your thing. Because maybe you didn't have anybody to play it with. But regardless, compared to the standard definition of "Grind," WoW is... pretty grind-lite.

Also, psst. For future reference? Not the best idea to call staff stupid. Just sayin'.

A live action WoW movie is a bad idea regardless of who's behind the helm. But seeing as this is Sam Raimi we're talking about, at least we know the undead and gore will be good.

Anyone who's seen Xena; warrior princess can probably imagine how this is gonna turn out.
Actually, the film is going to be clips from that, dubbed over with audio from the games. Characters include level one warrior, his brother, Joxer the Mighty.

Raimi... Well, he makes great B-movies. Maybe if we're lucky, or maybe if we're not, he'll drag his high school buddy Bruce Campbell along for the ride. Of course, if he does, it'll probably be just for a cameo. All in all, I expect the movie to be awful.

Wait, this is proving the importance of reading more. It might MIGHT be okay, especially with the whole Blizzard telling Uwe to go sit on it. It's odd though, that he even tried, I thought he was banned from making movies since Germany amended their tax laws to not give tax breaks for intentionally bad movies.

Also, on his comments on ignoring the game's fan base; I have this question. If you're making a movie about a game, and you're not making it for the core audience, and people who haven't heard of the game aren't going to be interested in, WHO IN THE REALM OF HADES ARE YOU MAKING IT FOR?!

I played lotro and LOVED it, so I like the genre. I didn't have anyone to play with because everyone I asked to join me wouldn't play because they heard it that was bad and they would become addicted to it.
You're not the smartest pumpkin in the cookie jar are you?

If you only played the trial, you probably didn't get very far. You can't spend 15 minutes playing a game and then denounce it as terrible because you haven't actually played it. You've just opened it up and hit a few buttons.

But, alas, my breath will be wasted on you - blind as you are. Enjoy your stay on the Escapist while it lasts, because if you continue on your merry way as you are you may find it cut short earlier than you would have liked.

I'm only sold if I am guaranteed at least a cameo of Bruce Campbell. I do think this is a good fit for Sam Raimi though. If he can apply the same principles of combining horror and comedy to the Warcraft setting, which has always had a vein of humor running through it. It could make for an interesting and enjoyable film.
I've never played WoW (well, I did for 5 minutes) but I'm now looking forward to this. And I also would want Bruce Campbell in it tossing around the word 'Groovey' like a lit firecracker.

I saw the Q n A session at Blizzcon, can't remember where, youtube, I expect, and they answered a lot of things.

Firstly, the reason it's being done from an alliance perspective, is that, even if every single warcraft player on the planet goes to see it, they're not going to make back their budget spend even. They NEED to attract non gamers to come see it, therefore you're pretty much stuck with a human lead, really, for normal people to 'get' it.

They did however say that the FIRST movie would be more alliance focused. So maybe a sequel can redress the balance.

I seem to remember it is set about 20 years before the start of WOW, so yes, its a Warcraft movie, and not a WOW movie.

I'm kinda hoping they don't load up too much on big name actors however, I think good 'new' actors could really do well, and fill the roles suitably.

The lead of Legendary Pictures did say that he cast the Superman returns guy for that reason, and that worked.
