I wish I had a friendly tank for L4D.
Well if you have PC L4D and you could wait a week maybe, I would be that. If I ever be one....
Afraid not. Looking to get it for xbox when the price drop from L4D2 occurs (the way I get all my games).

This exactly. Morrowind's setting was just very amazing. Giant mushrooms!

Well if you ever see a guy named CircadianMuffin, run like hell! He does everything he can to kill his own teammates. He doesn't play L4D much though...

I could go for Steampunk. I thought I heard about a Steampunk FPS being developed...

But, yeah, a kind of Terry Pratchett-y world would be good. We also have Assassin's Creed 2 on its way.
I like the idea of a Pratchett based sandbox game. You could have it city based in Ankh-Morpork or in a rural setting like up in the Ramtops.
Didn't they do an adventure game of the discworld?

There's an old game (recently revamped a bit through user patches, and now free-as-in-beer) called Hardwar. It's not spacebased, and the setting could be bigger (several crater-cities on Titan), but it's a lot of fun regardless. Find info and links to image files on http://zedo.hardwar.org.uk/

If you like Morrowind (a.k.a. The Elder Scrolls III) and you aren't afraid of a bit of nostalgia then you should try Daggerfall (a.k.a. The Elder Scrolls II). The world is even more free and the graphics are good enough, right? :)

Didn't like Daggerfall. It was at the "so old it's unplayable" point, and it's all randomised so although it seems bigger, it technically isn't.

What i would like is something along the lines of Mercenaries (airstrikes, lots of armed vehicles, contracts from various factions, you get the idea) - but IN SPACE! Okay, not actually IN SPACE. On the planets,to be precise. But anyway,sci-fi version of Mercenaries (spinoff, maybe?) would be greatly apreciated.

Well it does make a difference if you played these games when they just came out. And then 13 years later the nostalgia makes up for everything :)

An outer space sandbox game? One which allows you to visit and play on whatever planet you choose, with each world having one or even numerous cities, each of GTA proportions? Not to mention large wilderness areas. Plus interplanetary piracy and fighting. That would be a fun concept.

But you'd have to have a balance between the size of the game and the quality of level design(if level is the right word to use for a sandbox game), you'd either have to limit the number of planets and city's or create a program to seed them automatically

Thats true. Any game like this would be a real pain for game companies to produce in terms of both time and money.

Oblivion had a great mix of countryside, mountains, big cities, and small cities. GTA: San Andreas tried with 3 cities and a desert and forest, but it took a while to get around if not in a plane. At least the 3 cities had a different feel to them.

I think all of the Elder Scrolls games are superior to Fallout in terms of setting. I await the flames of disagreement.

I also think Fuel deserves a mention. That was a mention.

Wellllllll........

Fallout 3 Was much more detailed, as in it could tell a story about a house and what happened in it just by placing objects in side. The effect is quite striking, which never happened to me in Oblivion.

Morrowind really was the best sandbox setting ever, dont want to be the hero ? level up lockpicking until you can break into the tribunal temple and go one on one with Vivec, then get owned because while you were picking locks you forgot to level up anything else like COMBAT for instance...

In fact i'd say you pretty much HAD to play it as a sandbox game, there were no waypoints or recalls, you had marsh stalkers who only went to a few (sometimes seemingly random) cities, and scrolls to take you to either a church or a temple, everywhere else you had to hoof it, and the signposts in that game were worse than they are here in France.
You had to end up just wandering into the mountains sooner or later, where usually you got raped by clannfears or contracted some hideous form of plague that crippled your character to the point where you had to reload, say "screw the mountains" and go back to stealing shit from the House Telvanni vaults.
