Alternatively a cheaper option would be ascii - Example alt + four 9's = ☼

☼I think this idea is great☼

Why pay 1.99 for something that isn't needed...

You know, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that they were planning on making, like, a sarcasm font, or whatever you'd call it.
Sort of like backwards italics.

But yeah, as several people have said, it ruins the point.
You can already make it obvious with inflection using caps and/or italics, just as you would in real life.
There will always be people who miss it, intentionally or otherwise.
Pointing it out with some new-fangled punctuation or whatever just kind of ruins it.

why? we have ' , and common sense
i mean, when you're done writing, you read it over.
if you fear the message will be lost, alter it.

OT: I think its more confusing, not to mention you have to pay to use it (according to the Metro paper) and how on earth can you put that symbol onto email and things unless you have to download some sort of toolbar link.
In the article it says you have to push the Strg + the Full Stop button to put it in your e-mail.
Fair enough. Still, im not sure its worth it. i prefer just doing this *sarcastic remark* or just not bothering at all. Then again, since i don't email people anymore besides the teachers, which i doubt its a good idea to use sarcasm for them, i wouldnt need it anyway.

Not only is this a great idea, but the fact we have to pay makes it all the better(!)
The other ways of doing it (you know, /sarcasm, (!) or italics) were just too confusing...

Okay, I'll stop now. Though in all seriousness, I don't see the point, not to mention that the 'Sarcmark' itself is... I don't know how to put it... off?

There've been plenty of times when someone invented a sarcasm mark or something like it. I know of a Dutch linguisticist who tried to get an irony mark through in the form of a crooked exclamation mark. I think it's all a bit redundant when you have smileys eminently suited for the purpose.

Good idea? Kind of. It's more of a "why not" sort of thing though.

Worth $2? Of course not! I ain't paying that much for a punctuation mark!

And in other news, I'm going hypo. Off in search of glucose I go!

Wow. What a great idea. These guys are positively geniuses [sub](geniuses? genii?)[/sub].

Sarcasm can be conveyed quite easily through the use of italics and such like, and the good old simple /sarcasm.

Yes, because as we all know, humans have had the need for a sarcasm marker for thousands of years now. Thank goodness these brave entrepreneurs have finally shown us what we've been missing for all of this time.

We already came up with a solution for sarcasm in ambiguous cases. It's called careful use of italics or /sarcasm.

Im not gonna pay 1.99 for it. It could be helpful although there is the problem of no one knowing what it means for a while.
