I think it's funny that such a ritual exists, but frankly, I think the best thing to do is just ignore the WBC and hope they'll go away.

By the way, wasn't there a rumor going around that Fred Phelps had died, his family buried him in the backyard, and they never told anyone? Is that a general rumor, or just something I heard about because I have the "pleasure" of living in the same state as that bastard?

They admit to making the whole thing up. Additionally the Satanic Temple is a non-theistic Satanist organization, so they don't actually believe in magic, rituals, or even the afterlife. So basically they just want to give the biggest middle finger they can to the WBC.
