Well.. I think Final Fantasy is progressing wonderfully. There's only a few things that bug me on FFXII, like how offensive magic is useless, but the same applies to VII and VIII. Other than that, the combat is awesome. The plots were always dodgy to me in every FF game. It starts out like "ooooooh" then suddenly the main character loses 90% of his personality from some stupid experience where he 'finds himself' or something.. so it's hard to sympathize with anything he goes through after that moment. But as far as missing anything.. I miss nothing about it. Everything that people liked about the old games was good. On old games. Turn based combat looks silly and isn't nearly as fun to watch as real time (though X-2's combat was pretty fun in less slow battles), job classes annoy me because only one person can do this or that making it difficult to do anything if a boss is determined to kill just them, and "jpop" character designs aren't really all that bad, especially since most games these days churn out bland gruff marine dudes, FFT wannabes, chibi look-alikes, or rehashes out of the mid-FF series 'how-to' book. I like playing as cool looking people anyway. I'm not really one of those "I want to feel like I'm in the game" kind of people, so a ridiculous looking guy is perfectly fine with me, and actually encouraged because boring looking main characters bother me because it feels lame when the rival or bad guy is way cooler.
