The boss of Earthbound.

I can't explain it. Those that know, know. Those that don't, should totally play Earthbound.
I might as well explain this. The final boss is Giygas, an embodiment of all things evil. It looks just bazaar and when it attacks the text reads "You cannot grasp the true form of giygas's attack"
The only way to defeat him is to pray, I'm not even kidding.

OT: I just love those moments in stealth games where your hiding in a corner and a guy thinks he sees you so he checks out the area three feet from where you are and your just like "plz don't find me, plz don't find me, plz don't find me, plz don't find me" and then he finds you :p
I think that's the real reason why Amnesia was so scary, you never know when you were gonna be detected.

Mass Effect 2 - In the beginning when your investigating Freedom Progress is creepy. With the music and dark, empty setting. Project Overlord was also pretty creepy as well.

Oblivion - I can't remember which Countess it was...but one of the city's Countess had a secret dungeon where she tortured people. Argonians, I think, cause she was a racist. Coming across that place and seeing all the blood and stuff was creepy to me.

L.A. Noire - The last mission of the murder case. I don't want to spoil it, but to the people that have played it - I found the whole thing creepy.

Wow... except that doesn't do any justice to the fight. At all. And it fails to get the point across. Way to fuck that up, dude.

Definitely. Although I'd give second place to the Gibdo father in Majora's Mask. Come to think of it, lots of Majora's Mask was fucked up. Like the Mask saying 'a puppet that can no longer be used is mere garbage' as it tosses aside the Skull Kid.
Hell yeah, that game is messed. It's why Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game.

I'll be the one to say it then......the first time I met the water monster in Amnesia: The Dark Descent. The lights just dim, you hear a roar, you hear splashing coming toward you, you try and scramble away, but its too late.

Non-horror game is the key word here.

If it was horror game, I'd just list the game itself.

For me, it was Fallout 3. It was my first game, and I think I was around level 4 or so, and my weapons sucked. I had heard of the Republic of Dave, and I wanted to go there. I had never heard of Old Onley though. Led to me being chased around the streets by about 3 hungry deathclaws. Ran into the sewer, thought I was safe, and I turned around. Just in time to see the deathclaw that was leaping at my face. :(

For me, seeing the giant Eel in Super Mario 64 at age 3 scarred me from any deep sea games. Including the deep sea sections in Super Mario Sunshine.

Screw you I was susceptible at that age -_-

Misread the title, my bad.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, the wall masters from Ocarina of Time.

I was just walking along, ignoring navi, and out of nowhere, a giant hand pops out and drags me to my demise.

I wouldn't touch the game for 6 months after that.

This is Giygas. Giygas wins this thread.
Just like to point out that before fighting Giygas, the protagonists were transformed into robots which everyone seems to forget.Okay, enough being a smartass.
The scariest moment in a non-horror game?Singularity's tape recorder scaree. It's kinda sad,a game resorting to screamers to scare you.

That doesn't seem that scary... exploring a newly opened pocket in minecraft on the other hand. That can be scary. You never know if you'll turn around and a zombie or creeper will be there as you frantically lay down torches to ensure that they can no longer spawn within your newly expanded base all because you desperately need more gold... yeah I'm having flashbacks now.

Some of the Crawler bits in Fable 3. That whole part was scary to me. Also, on the topic of Fable, the discovering the music box in the dream. Seeing all those dead bodies...

Oh, and the Dwarvern tunnles in Dragon Age: Origins. I think they did a good job with that, even if it did go on a bit too long.
another one from fable,

fable 2 the demon door with all the suits of armor, terry cotters army. i had the hairs on the back of my neck up the whole time. after a while i got so paranoid i destroyed them all and boy did it make me feel better.
oh and balveriens from fable 1 my first play through they scared the living crap out of me, granted i was also like 13 so meh...
