Does Bioshock count as a non-horror game? If so, anytime one of the splicer starts talking to themselves and you can't see them. Or when you hear the wrench dragging behind one of the splicers.
Yeah, Bioshock has some scary moments. The most scary one would be the surgeon splicer suddenly standing behind you at one point.
I nearly shat myself at that stage. Especialy since I was playing on hard, so everything had the potential to kill me.

I'd also have to say the Valhalla from Metriod Prime 3. Especially since you could go down a corridor, find a dead and with some dead marines, then turn around and get ambushed by some Phazon bugs. Especially when you have low energy and can't use overdrive to fight them off.

In Pikmin 2, the water wraith. Everything about the game is just plain fun exploring and then all of a sudden you are forced into a dungeon with only blues and a boss that turn up half way through as supposed to at the end who relentlessly hunts you down and crushes your Pikmin. As a kid I just stressed right out.

As you wouldn't call Bioshock a horror game, at least not right off the bat, it was in that. IN the area around Sander Cohen's place, can't remember the name now..

Basically, there's a staircase you can take down to a huge flooded room. It's also poorly lit as if that didn't help, but as you move through the room there's statues in acrobatic poses. On your way out the lights flicker constantly and the statues move. This happens a lot in that area, keeps your nerves shredded. =S

Loved it. =D

I have to agree with you on The Cradle, just thinking back on it makes me shudder.
The Ocean House Hotel in Vampire Bloodlines: The Masquerade is a close second.
Also, being chased by the Dahaka for the first time in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within gave me a nice scare.

1. Whenever I'm close to death in RuneScape with valuable items.
2. Zombie levels in the TimeSplitters series (Mansion in 1, Siberia and Notre Dame in 2, and Mansion of Madness and What Lies Below in FP.)
3. Last level in Silent Scope EX. Not only is the whole world depending on you, the guy you have to kill is a total FRUIT. (Prince of Rose...look it up.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: DOPEFISH
Commander Keen 4 was a nice and goofy fun game, but all of a sudden there's the underwater level with that huge green ************ that can swallow you in one gulp.

Pretty much anything involving Dark Troopers in the original Dark Forces, especially the phase 1 models. I haven't played the game since I was about ten, but I remember being freaked out every time one showed up -- in large part because they were so darned hard to kill.
I can handle Dark Troopers. What freaked me out as a kid was the goddamn dianogas.

You're trying to find a way through Anoat Sewers. The place is a damn maze, and you've forgotten where you've been because the passageways start looking the same. Worst of all, you can hear the roars of a creature you can't see. Suddenly one of these pops up right in front of you:

It might not look scary, but bear in mind it can pop up at any time and bite off a third of your health. Oh yeah, and there's an infinite number of them, meaning you're forced to use YOUR FISTS if you're down there too long and run out of ammo. And the rest of the monster looks something like this:

Now you understand why this level gave me nightmares as a kid.

Fallout 3 - In the police station thats been taken over by Super mutants (I think its called Germantown station) there was a skeleton that had clipped into a wall, its upper half was on one side and its legs were on the other side. The physics engine was trying to push it out of the wall and this caused the skeleton to shake and move around. Its arms were sticking out into the corridor and were jerking around. As if this wasn't creepy enough, when I walked past the arms I actually took damage!

Last mission in Uncharted.
I don't care what anyone says! It was nerve-wracking!
You mean the one with the zombies or the very last mission where you kill the impossible to kill guy? The part with the zombies was pretty intense, especially when I kept running out of ammo.

I kind of felt like the parts in Dragon Age: Origins where you get ambushed by spiders was kind of scary.

the morgue in arkham asylum. although, one could argue arkham asylum was a horror game due to the heavy atmosphere, but overall, i'd say it's more of an action-adventure game. but yeah. morgue. scary as hell.

Oh I remember this clearly. it was in Bioshock on the second level I guess. So I went over to the dentist, on on a shelf I saw a plasmid. So I went over they, took it, and suddenly smoke/gas/whatever covered my screen, so I tried to turn around and move back, but my charcter didnt move, all he did (apparently) was to turn around, so when the smoke/gas/whateverness cleared, this Dentist splicer was staring right into my soul. Jesus christ that made me jump. Even on my second playthrough I was scared to do it again even though I knew it was going to happen.

I just played Uncharted for the first time last week and almost quit the game at that part. I hate horror. God, it was so sudden! Whenever I decide to play Uncharted 2, I hope it doesn't do that. My poor heart can't take it...

The final murder in Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper. :X I felt pretty sick, actually, and the eerie music was pretty creepy too.

You'll probably like Uncharted 2 a lot more then. I was completely taken by surprise when it showed up in the first game, especially because I played and beat the second game before the first and nothing like that happened. The thing is, I'm a huge horror fan so something I didn't find scary might be scary to someone who doesn't play horror games all the time. You should be fine. Uncharted 2 is so much better in every way.

Those were terrifying sweet.

Beyond Good and Evil, the first part of the game when the aliens invade and your barrier was down. That was so cool but so terrifying at my young age.

if your talking about uncharted 1, and crawling through the zombie infested Sub Base, then i agree with you.

if your talking about the last mission in uncharted 2, then I don't.

personally, the ice level in uncharted 2 freaked me out. i was perfectly fine, until the camera starts slowly getting farther away, and then suddenly pans around to allow an enormous demon thing sitting 2 inches from the camera to enter your field of view. that made me jump.
