When its unexpected yea, otherwise the lock sound just makes me start mashing the CM button and flying like a drunk goose on crack.Wyld Fyre said:The radio in Silent Hill

and this is probably just me but the missile lock on noise from Freelancer.
For me it wasn't so much their sound as the music that started up once you got one's attention. I get too scared to even look around a corner. Mainly the first time they come at you in pairs.b3nn3tt said:The sound of the regenerators in Resident Evil 4. I heard one the first time I played it and ended up running round a corner right into it. Dropped the controller and ended up munched by it. Not a fun moment.
....*thinks about it for a moment*.....yeah, pretty much. The visuals are kinda cool, but it's the audio that really loosens your sphincter.Vidi Kitty said:So amnesia as is one huge audio freak out fest?tombman888 said:Amnesia... every fucking creak, growl, wind movement, footstep, and even the fucking ambient music made me fear that game with all my soul.
And then you have the sound of the actual monsters. as soon as i hear the "Bleargh!" I run the fuck away and shit my pants =(

Third day, the men are all gnawed on again.
Fourth day, we wait and fear for our fate.
Fifth day, they return and it's another girl's turn.
Sixth day, her screams we hear in our dreams.
Seventh day, she grew as in her mouth they spew.
Eighth day, we hate it as she is violated.
Ninth day, she grins and devours her kin.
Now she does feast, as she's become the beast."
Now you lay and wait, for their screams will haunt you in your dreams.
That and that bloody radio in Silent Hill.
basically, yes. And in the rare moments that everything goes silent, it's even scarier X(Vidi Kitty said:So amnesia as is one huge audio freak out fest?tombman888 said:Amnesia... every fucking creak, growl, wind movement, footstep, and even the fucking ambient music made me fear that game with all my soul.

I may not have played Amnesia, Silent Hill or (gasp!) Minecraft, but this is absolutely the winner for me. I had to turn this level off and only came back to Deadly Shadows two months later. Going up the stairs to the attic is just so tense, particularly when you get this close. Horrifyingly good audio and probably the tightest single level of any game I've ever played.Capt. EDIT: Also, don't know what that stupid 'pop' noise at about :20 is, but it's not there in the game. =P
