Guys want to be their own gender in a game
Nope. Never. Female characters exclusively. Especially in a fan-service game.
Why play a service game as the only conservatively dressed character-- let alone a `male` character? Might as well play something else altogether!
I never deal in absolutes!
I'd guess it has something to do with guys wanting to have the tool to thrust at all the women (regardless of the person playing as that woman as some will be guys) that will inevitably flock to him (and likely try to use him somehow), and he can be safely assured in his masculinity in his dealings with them.
It might be a cheap shot at inclusivity to appeal to more people. I mean it seems about as half assed as when this happens to women.
We all know there's those people that freak right the hell out when they learn the womn they're lusting after is a guy, or even the remote chance of it... even in a game like Scarlet Blade. They prolly assume every player is a woman, and expect to be able to chat them up for what ever reason until they find out there's a guy behind that avatar. Then the hate and vitriol happens. I haven't beeen there, but I'd bet my bottom dollar there's atleast -one- thread on their forums asking about why guys play as women in games made by people who are hostile to the idea.
Kinda like those people that go into a topic about something they hate just to say they hate it, and pick a fight, or sumfin.
Those people aughta be included, too! >.>
A poor shot at fanservice for women, maybe? I could buy that unlikely event, but only just. I mean if it was a shot at women, obviously, there'd be more variety of guys, and they'd be less conservatively dressed. I mean heck, even as a lesbian, I can find Terry Crews, and David Tennant, practically opposites on the scale of buffness among other physical qualities, attractive.
I can say that odds are really good a minority of women at best will play as the guy unless he really offers something practical. It makes me doubt heavily that it's for women all things said and done. Then again, women have sexual fantasies, too, so women might play as guys to dole those out?
Hey, maybe they actually got bombarded with hatemail calling them sexist for not having guys, so they added them? That possibility makes me sad, though. :/
If it's that easy for a guy to be added to an all women game, then I gotta envy that because the reverse sure doesn't seem true!
I'm open to other ideas/motives here!
You'll have to pardon the bleak tone of my reply. I'm not a misandrist, honest! I don't hate guys! I just have a very dim view of most situations, especialy relating to the game industry in general, and have a mild case of misanthropy where I hate people coz they act like scumbags around/to me.
