So I see a pattern with the form today, lots of scary topics. Well, get this.

Last night I was sleeping, I woke up with a LOUD painful ringing in my ears, I know I was awake because my eyes were open and I could move them side to side...but I could not move the rest of my body at all, it felt like I had no control over myself....After about 10mins I finally got control back and never fell back asleep. I have absolutely no clue what happened but I was freaked.

Any ideas on what happened to me?

Anything happen to you that you just could not understand recently?

When you're asleep, your body usually paralyzes you so you don't act out your dreams. If you wake up at the wrong time, your body might still be paralyzed. It happens to people from time to time.

But if you want a creepy answer, I guess I could just say it's aliens trying to preform rectal exams on you while you sleep.

Thats been known to happen.

Your mind wakes up, but your body is still sleeping. On top of that, some people actually live out their dreams in this state, only they can't move. This is fine if your dreaming about a steamy night of passion with scarlett johansson, but no so great when she turns into a giant spider.

Just your average sleep paralysis, everyone gets it time to time so it's nothing to worry about. But if it persist, like multiple times a week, hen you may want to see a doctor

It's called sleep paralysis. It's when your body falls asleep but not your mind. See, when you fall asleep your body is supposed to stop moving, and the brain is programmed to make it do just that, but sometimes something goes wrong. Sometimes it's just a little glitch, sometimes it's wires that've been crossed in the wrong way, and the person will continually suffer these occurances.

Anyways, it's nothing to be worried about. If it starts to happen with some frequency, you might want to go visit a sleep specialist. I'm not an expert on sleep paralysis, but one assumes that someone who is might be able to help you.

Yeah, you probably suffered from sleep paralysis. That actually happened to me once, and when it did, I saw Satan staring at me from the edge of my bed throwing his feces at me.

I've seen a lot of threads about this topic. A lot of Escapististiazians apparently suffer from sleep paralysis.

ON TOPIC: Once, I was in the bathroom, home alone, and reading my smashing good Deadpool comic, when...I heard a [HEADING=2] SHRIEK![/HEADING]

Well, it sounded like someone was gasping....but I was alone. My backyard is covered in Woods...so...maybe it was some kind of demon?

I've actually wanted to get something like that. Unfortunately I seem to have the opposite thing happen to me, I've often awoken to see my arm in the air.

But yeah, typical sleep paralysis.

From my limited knowledge of it, this usually happens during REM sleep which usually happens for about 1-2 hours a night. So unless you watch your friend every minute of her sleeping, you might not notice that she doesn't move for a bit. And if you do, that's very creepy and I suggest you get help.

Ew... I've had sleep paralysis as well, I was laying there, but couldn't open my eyes or move my hands to force them open, while my dog was asleep with his butt next to my head. So I had awful ideas of what the smell was, because I couldn't investigate.

Here's an odd occurrence, I woke up in the middle of the night and <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view>this person was lying in bed next to me. I freaked out and ran to call the cops, but there was no one in my room when I got back.

Also, I recently said "Candlejack" out loud, but nothing came to attack or kidna

One time, I swear I attacked by an Advisor from Half Life. I was just lying in bed, almost asleep, when out of nowhere I "hear" this huge roar-like sound in my head, and swear that even though my eyes were closed, I saw a greenish outline around my vision for a split second. Plus, my entire body kind of spasmed and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. All of this took place during the same half-second.

Yeah I didn't sleep much that night.

Oh please it was someone I was dating and they did all kinds of things in their sleep even kicked. But when my friends and I were 10 we would do goofy things to eachother when we were asleep.

I was in an Xbox live party with a friend playing Bioshock. He was in the later levels, and I asked him, "Has Fontain said 'Would you kindly go get stepped on by a big daddy' yet?" I heard him gasp, then nervously start chuckling. Turns out, just when I said it, Fontain said it, and our voices sinced up perfectly. Also, I apparently do a pretty good Fontain impression. It was just a huge coincidence, but it scared the bejeesus out of my freind.

I remember very hazily when I was about 12. I woke up one night and I couldn't open my eyes for a good 10 or 15 secs. It was weird because I could tell that there was light since there is a faint glow that you can see when you shut your eye lids. It freaked me out, and plus I didn't move. I could if I wanted to, but I didn't want to sit up and bang my head on the bed above me. Yes it was a bunk bed, and I was on the bottom.

Don't worry, I was just kidding. But seriously, REM sleep only happens for about 20% of your sleeping, she probably would stop kicking for an hour or two and went back two it and you didn't notice because you were also sleeping.
