You thought I was done bitching about my new school?, well you are wrong ...ok well I more or less actually need help this time.

If you can understand the title then pretty much that but for the sake of a non-locked thread I'll expand:

So rewind a few days ago, me sitting there at lunch not having done my Science homework because I lost my textbook, I turn and ask person 1 (names preserved for safety) "Hey can I borrow your textbook? I need to answer the questions" he says no, so I turn to person in my class 2 and again I ask but the repsonse this time is "No we want you to get in trouble" not fazed I continue to kid around about it, then some more people show up and agree on this.

It seems fairly jokey but from what I can read of expressions some of them meant it, don't ask why because I don't know; I always do my homework but only ever in free classes, I ask teachers alot of questions but everybody knows I'm just stalling for time and most of all I'm fairly polite to people because I'm new and don't want to give off an "aura" of being a smart-ass.

I'm not really sure which one of those pisses people off the most, but I know I already have one person who truly hates my guts and I have been informed by a friend of mine who is a friend of his that I'm going to be challenged to a fight, which is a bad thing. (Don't get me wrong, I can fight but only at certain times on certain days after listening to a never-ending loop of "Eye of the Tiger")

I'm pretty much out of options seeing as alot of them smoke, drink and fight aswell tattle-tailing fails aswell.

Sorry if this is whiny but I had to ask this somewhere where I would not be at risk...I hope (because even if the getting me in trouble thing is just messing around my arch-nemesis isn't, I've already tried both "let's be civil" and the "fresh slate" thing.)

Well, its High School. You can either take it head on, or wait until you graduate. Unfortunately, thats pretty much it.

I'm not sure what you want from us, though. As Thunderhorse said. The choices are not too complicated ..

Take the challenge of the fight. If you win he looks like an idiot. If you lose he looks like an asshole.

Or maybe your school isn't like mine and you get hated either way. Whatever option, as the above posts said you don't have many choices so make one.

I agree with what others have said, just get through it . . . high school sucks, college is way better. And the best thing about college is you don't ever have to see the people from high school again unless you want to!

High school is years 7-11, and College is 6th form?

High school is a bunch of nonsense. Keep in mind that a pretty big majority of the "problems" you'll face in high school are just bits of bullshit you have to deal with. People are going to turn on you no matter how much or how little you do for them, they'll do it the moment they think it'll be better for them.

Better yet I have 3/4 years here then I'm moving a hemisphere away- back to Aus.

So I guess pretty much suck it up and take it works.

Life is so much better once you graduate. It took me an extra year because of the same kind of junk, but was so worth it. Just stick it out. Do the best you can. You'll make it.

The OP is from Ireland* I believe so I have no idea.

Our education system is not really like others as far as I am aware. Americans do not go into high school until later than we do and leave later. College and University seem to be the same thing in the US.

Anyone able to translate the years for schools in the respective countries?

UK:

4-11 = Primary School
11-16 = Secondary/High School
16-18 (usually, can be done later) = College/6th Form
18+ Univeristy

* I always mix that frigging flag up sorry >_<

Just to clarify further, UK university degrees work out as follows:

-1 year: Higher certificate
-2 year: Higher diploma
-3 year: Bachelor degree
-4 year: Master's

Yeah, just stick it out. Don't bother trying to fight him - I don't know how it works across the pond, but here, showing up for a prearranged fight gets you jumped by your opponent and at least three of his friends. Screw that.

What you do is, you game the system. Show up at the arranged time & place and arrange to have a policeman/your principle show up a couple minutes late. Let them beat the crap out of you for a while (*DON'T* fight back), then laugh your ass off as they get treated to some good old fashioned corporal punishment.
Worked for me.

EDIT: OP is in Ireland, I think.

Italy? that's a first.

From Aus,was in NZ, now in Ireland

In NZ it goes like this

Kindergarden: 4
Years 1-6: 5-11
Intermediate (7 and 8): 11-13
College(highschool years 9-13): 13-18
Uni: 18+

not sure about Ireland yet.

School blows, many people won't admit it (as my Dad keeps saying, 'you'll miss your school years when you're older') but it's provably true.

Just accept this fact, get through it and try to do your best...that's what I did (and look how I turned out!).

Those guys are douche bags.
They will probably try to become a soldier after they fail at everything else then die alone and unhappy.

We have similar in Poland.

5 or 6 = Pre-School.
6-12 = Primary School.
12-15 = Middle School.
15-18 = High School.
18+ = College and further.

Although I'm in a Spanish class, so I'll be in High School till 19. Hey, but it's worth it - I'll have one year more to study before the Matura (our test of maturity, as the name might suggest). Oh, and I'm more than sure all those idiots go further/stay behind (because not everyone passes to 3rd grade or the Matura) and I won't have to deal with it.

I do, however, consider my time in the Middle School wasted. I started hating Math, got an A in German and I don't remember 95% of the stuff. It was much better in the old days, where you had 9 years in Primary School and you went straight to High School.

On-topic - suffer through those years, then give them a bit "F! YOU!" on the graduation day.

My bad, I misread the flag, heh. I am embarrassed about how long it took me to remember which flag was German and which one was Belgian come to think of it. >_<

What assholes. My advice to you is this:

Humiliation > Beating someone up

I once almost got into a fight which I didn't want to be in, but instead of beating them up, I restrained them into a locker in front of a ton of people. No one ever pulled that shit again.
