Fellow Escapists

Being a gamers website, a lot of the escapist news is somewhat geeky (in the broadest most positive sense of the word) and a lot of it is sience related. In the past the escapist even featured a weekly article called science.
Yet when i searched the Escapist communityI couldn't find any science related user group anywhere.

This is why I created a brand new science user group. So my fellow Ecapists my question to you is do you have an interest in science? And if you do would you consider joining this glorious new user group?

So...discussion value? Come on, at least give us something to talk about, so the thread doesn't die and more people see the link.

I would say math isn't science but it is pretty much a requirement for any field of science so...

Well thats weird I thought there would be a science group considering a lot of people on this site talk about it all the time.

I think that's because a science group would be rather vague, and it's hard to think up something to do to keep it alive.
Most groups have a gimmick, like quizzes, trivia questions, conversation topics posted in the news, to keep people talking and such. You could post scientific breakthroughs in the news for this group, but alternatively you could make a thread, and let the entire site discuss, instead of just the group.
A certain few groups are the exception in that they should have died ages ago, because they have no proper purpose, but they have survived. Like the Asylum Open Mic, PRIATE, and Hugs, to name a few.

Of course it is. Science is just a way of approaching certain fields of interest, it can be mechanics, electricity, etc(physics), elements and substances (chemistry), life(biology) and numbers, spaces, probabilitys etc(maths) the natural sciences or even social or economic science etc.

But you draw in science, but would you really count Art as a science?
If you would, then shut up and let me win this. I need it!

While I have a passing interest in high level physics, my main interest is in upper level mathematics (Linguistics and mathematics major). Would I be out of place there?

I'm a Chemist myself but I have some interests in mathematics as well. Besides mathemathics is a science in it's own right, so come and join us.

Who let Dr. Bright in here?

OT: I propose a few different symbols for the group.

Created by: Weebl. I am not suprised in the slightest.

OT: Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember the Science! content hasn't been seen in a while.

Joining a usergroup? Nah, I'm not that interested in it.
