I will concede the fact they should have told you over the phone that they couldn't hold it because of company policy. And transfer your 20 bucks back to your card so you could use it at a local GS or EB.
actually we can hold them for extra time, we do it for our customers at my store all the time. if they call and tell us they will be late in picking it up, we stick a note on a copy and put it aside. there isn't a rule against that really. if they said they would hold it they should have, but mistakes are made from time to time.

Huh, on my pre-order receipts it always says that they will hold the game for only 48 hours. The guy at the register usually mentions that too. The guy on the phone should have told you they couldn't hold it for more then two days though.

It's always said on the receipts the reserved game will be held for 48 hours after a release date. Can't expect someone to hold it forever do ya

Sure. I am almost certain that the guys at my local EB/GS would do it as well if they were asked (barring any mishaps). They are under no obligation to do so though.

That's funny because the gameslop by me doesn't sell you a game unless you preorder it. One of the many reasons I don't shop there.

My advice: don't pre-order!
It's the biggest consumer rip off since layaway and gamestop is the only retail outlet that managed to convince its customers that it's absolutely necessary.
Just go to a real store, grab it off the shelf and purchase it.
yeah just a few days ago i heard people freaking out that they didnt pre order you know what and that it would be sold out. I got a laugh and a half out of that. we have 2 gamestops a target and a walmart all within 2 seconds from each other, and like 5 people were really worried while another guy was bragging about his pre order.
yeah other than that i like the gamestop i go to. the guys working there are pretty good. I just recently went to another one for the first time, and they sucked, they were just huge dicks.
In my experience, most of them are like the latter.
And now they're going to be selling dlc too I hear.
That's just #uc&in great. Just what I need: another thing to add to the list of crap they try and sell you when you get to the register. You can tell which ones are really annoying with that because they have long lines.

Trust me... I checked and it's not there... I wouldn't be that stupid.
Well yours is the only one then. On my reciepts from pre orders it says just above the bottom bar code (and I quote) NEW RELEASE PRODUCTS WILL BE HELD FOR 48 HOURS AFTER RELEASE (yes it is even capped).

And the only difference between CE and regular is 3 in game items (a book, wand and helmet), tin, extra disc and map.

yeah man you're right. I work for eb. on the bottom of your reciept it will say that we are only obligated to hold your item for 48 hrs after it's released and then it may be sold and your money refunded.

I haven't had any problems like that with my local outlet of the store. Then again, I very rarely pre-order anything...most of the "pre-order only bonus item" things aren't worth it.

Also, because I have some friends who work at the outlet, if I go in to buy whatever the item is in the first few days, they usually give me one of the bonus items anyway since they always have a few extra ones.

Usually I only pre-order if it's a title I figure they'll only get a very few copies of (like I did with Heavy Rain...good thing, too, 'cause they were sold out on release day except for the pre-orders).
