Not a very good idea if only for the fact that the only bowling game is on Wii Sports. Anyway, Wii bowling is fun with my little bro, but it's more fun to go out really bowling with my friends. We're not exactly great, so great kudos to the one who got 5 strikes in a row. (even 2 is uncommon). Rock Band/Guitar Hero are better party games anyway.

May I add that it would be very hard to explain to your friends why you'd need a piece of plastic and your justification is Shovel ware >.>

As Clement Atlee said when he came to power at the end of of World War 1:

"We shall squeeze them till the pips squeek!"

Wait, what? I saw this video to start with, saw the production values and the presenter and mistook it for a joke. Its real?!

Hmm only one pound, it doesnt have nearly enough mass to cause much damage. If anything im pretty sure this thing would break first. Well i cant wait for the youtube videos of people failing with it.

EDIT: Check out how well CTA digital thought out their ad campaign...also good for punchout! [http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/04/cta-digitals-wii-bowling-ball-is-perfect-for-boxing/]
If I had money and a video camera, I would play punchout with that thing. Because it's so realistic.

That doesn't look dangerous. I'll buy it and only to prove if it is hazardous. This will be the only accessory I'm gonna buy that I think is a waste of money, but I'm only do this to prove if it is safe.

If I owned a Wii, I'd get it. I might just recommend it to my friend who has a Wii and has been bowling for 20+ years. He'd enjoy it and I know he wouldn't throw it at his TV. He's too broke to buy a new one.

I can't help but to think of a completely different issue: what about the size of your hand?
Small kids probably won't be able to use it, and people with big hands will just find it uncomfortable.

Anyhoo, I can't imagine this being a very big success. Not only is it a glorified Wii-mote case, it's also unrealistic and can only be used for a handful of games, with not so big of a variety in genres.

I'm just waiting for them to bring out a baseball bat case, think of the things you could smash with that thing.

Congratulations, you got a HOME RUN! But you'll need a new lamp.

What I really want to know is, what does the Wii Motion Plus do? That cube thing at the end of the Wiimote is supposed be a motion sensor or something? Isn't that what the Wiimote is? o_O

It makes the Wiimote more accurate.

On topic though, for some reason I thought this looked like the security stuff stewardesses go through before the flight. The slow, monotonous talking, the slow repeated movements... It was just awkward.

I sense a powerful disturbance in the fragile safety of your 72 inch plasma TV.
We have all heard of the damage the Wii remote has done to people's TVs, now we have a much bigger, and heavier object that is bound to escape from the little wrist strap that binds it and propel itself through your TV.
This is a bad idea.
And why not, instead of paying $60(?) for a bowling game, and another bunch for a fake bowling ball ($29.99), and a new plasma TV after you put the ball through the screen($1000+), you just go bowling?

If people breaking their HDTV's and good china was a big enough concern to put a wrist strap warning in every game and make that free jacket thing, who the hell thought a bowling ball was a good idea?

It's too lightweight to simulate anything about bowling, or break anything. These people lie.
On a separate note, why buy a wii and subsequently this accessory when you could, y'know, go bowling.
Well, I already spent money on the Wii Bowling Lane accessory, and the Wii Nacho Dispenser accessory, AND the Wii Bowling Buddy accessory. Going to a bowling alley would be a waste, and also silly.
