Sega Hopes You Still Love Old-Fashioned Sonic

Huh, I'll give it a try, but then again, I'm more in the "neutral" area of my opinion of sonic at the moment.

It'll need to be very good to bring sonic back to glory (which I doubt it will be) but if anything, I hope it manages to continue the steps that Sonic colours and Sonic 4: part 1 managed to start.

Though, anyone else notice that sonic started to become crap when eggman decided to start using end worlding things from other sources than trying to beat up the hedgehog by trapping animals into robots? (though I do admit I liked sonic adventure 1 & 2)

Even if the gameplay of some(/most) of the sonic of recent years is Terribad, if there was one reason why I liked Sonic 2006 and Unleashed let it be this;

The sonic games rarely disappoint me when it comes to their soundtrack, finding at lot of them down-load worthy.
DO NOT DISAPPOINT ME NOW SEGA.

The one problem when this comes out; 2D sonic will meet his future tripped out waster self, and quite possibly kill himself before he lets it happen. Although in "retro"spect,(ba dm tsh), that might not be so bad, no 3D sonic games.

I'm a bit disappointed it's only coming out for 360 and PS3 because it looks nearly as good Sonic Colors (the best Sonic game I've played and the best since Sonic Adventure 2) [yes, I liked SA2, deal with it]. But there is something unsettling about that "classic" sonic that makes me wonder where the faults in this game will lie and what purpose does this gimmick in generations serve?

I don't know about you guys, but this looks pretty darn good.

I'll be keeping my eye on it, but I'm not overly excited in case i get disappointed.

Because well...It's a new sonic game, its par with the course.

What's the difference between classic Sonic and modern Sonic? They look the same to me. Anyway...yeah, this looks like Sonic gameplay. I haven't played any Sonic games sinces #2 on my old Game Gear, though.

Judging from the trailer,I'd have to guess that Classic Sonic will play in the 2D style of the classic games while Modern Sonic goes for the 3D running stages similar to Sonic Unleashed's day levels,which imo isn't a bad thing

While I was never as adamant against Sonic as other people, I still think the series is currently at the highest point it's been at in over 10 years, handheld games not withstanding. After the day stages of Unleashed, Sonic Colors, and Sonic 4, you bet your ass I'm excited for this.

I had picked up my GC wanting to buy SA2:B and I was not disappointed. The Sonic and Shadow levels were a blast, rest was meh aside from the Knuckles & Rouge bits that were downright awful.

Unleashed 360 day levels were awesome, Sonic 4 Episode 1 was good fun and I enjoyed Sonic Colours.

I could see this game using some sort of Sonic CD mechanic where when and if you pass certain poles with rings you switch sonic or something? I dunno... I guess we'll find out soon enough. I just really hope it's ONLY sonic levels.

Listen Sega, you just don't fucking get it do you? Nobody really cares about Sonic as a character, it was always about the gameplay. Try this, make a completely 2D traditional Sonic game, then as you play it, add 3D elements on a case by case basis when you encounter a section that would be better if it had a specific 3D element.

How can he be called "Old Sonic"? all they did was refine the artwork over time, it's not like he's a different colour or anything. It's exactly the same character!

They always move too fast for me to be able to even spot the differences anyway.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone else here of the mind that the first two Sonic Adventure games rocked? I mean, yeah, bad dubbing and stuff, but frankly they controlled great, the voices (at least IMHO) were very fitting of the characters, and Shadow from SA2 was easily the coolest character in the series.

Consider me sold already. Colors didn't disappoint, nor did Episode 1.

However, SEGA/Sonic Team, one bit of advice: Make sure to add a lot of extra content into this game, no matter what system it's on. That will make or break this title.

It's been 20 years. Give us everything good about Sonic in this game, even stuff from the comics if you like. Go above and beyond on this one.

Seriously though, I notice while they've been trying, they refuse to do a full reboot with a coherent story and cast people give a damn about.

Despite their inherent crappiness being covered by my nostalgia goggles, Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 were my swan songs for the franchise. After that, the crap just broke through the lenses.

While we're making requests, I would like to see them send some money over to Monolith so they can bring us Condemned 3.

Bleh, what I really want to see is Shenmue 3. I'd give my right nut for that to get made.
