Sega... just give it up. Please.

Sonic's had his spotlight. You can't force it back, you pretty much made sure that Sonic is the butt-end of jokes now.

Just give it up, and put some time and effort to new, different games. Or maybe build a team dedicated to patching Alpha Protocol, that would be pretty sweet.

NOW GET OFF YOUR ASS, STOP MAKING SONIC GAMES, AND MAKE ANOTHER JET SET RADIO DAMN IT!
While we're making requests, I would like to see them send some money over to Monolith so they can bring us Condemned 3.
Bleh, what I really want to see is Shenmue 3. I'd give my right nut for that to get made.
Or this. Yeah, do this instead. That would be best.

They we're awesome at the time of their original release but they aged poorly.

My prediction is the game will be good. Not terrible, not outstanding, just good. And at the rate Sonic is losing fans all future Sonic games will never be great, just either terrible or good.

So let me get this straight. Fans complain about current sonic games and suggest they take it back to 2D, they do this and the first 2 games they do this with get a positive reception. Sega announces another one and the reaction is "OMG SONIC SUCKS JUST KILL IT OFF ALREADY". I just don't get the gaming community sometimes.

If Sega wants to give us something, they should make more Bayonetta. Strange and stylized and sexualized as it was, at least it brought something new to the mix. I don't think anyone is throwing coins into wells wishing for more attempts to cash in on the nostalgia of retro gaming. You can hardly swing a cat without hitting someone's "golden age" collection.

Will old sonic brutally murder new sonic and then rewrite the last 10 years as they should have been? If so I'm on board.

Yeah, i agree.

Sega are pretty much playing all their cards with this, and still people complain.

I guess you just can't please the haters.

I'm not the hugest sonic fan, but im always up for a new sonic game, especially one that goes back to what made the originals so much fun to play.

It may be good, it may be bad, but no one should base their assumptions on previous games in the series, because that's just ignorance.

Bayonetta is platinum games, and not sega.

Sega was the publisher of that game.

Does anyone know if Sonic Fan Remix is still going ahead? Or whether it was stopped by SEGA? I haven't heard anything about it in a long time, and I'm more looking forward to that than this.

OT: No. Just no. Not gonna buy it. Sounds like the worst story ever... I mean... going back in time... SEGA really are digging deep into the idea bucket...

At last we see gameplay!

Good to see they're sticking with what looks like the Colors formula. Color me interested. I'll just sit back and see how this rolls out. Probably gonna buy it.

I sure do love the Old Sonic, that's why I haven't bought any Sonic game since Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast!

My complaints, as always, are these:
- Controlling Sonic 3rd-person in a 3D environment is about as effective, and enjoyable as trying to ride a Razor scooter along the median lines of Lombard Street with no brakes.

There is no such thing as precision control while whizzing down a pathway in any of the "REAL PHYSICS!" environments. Half the time I'm running Sonic along a wall, as if I was scraping his face into it like Blade did to Quinn with the Subway train in the first movie.

Not to mention that the upcoming rings are about as easy to see, let alone maneuver into, as the ISS in front of the sun, at noon. From earth. Without a telescope.

This has made Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors, and I'm going to bet Sonic Generations, completely unsatisfying to play.

- You think 2D controls will be/are any better? Have you ever played Sonic Rush?

Again, no precision control because the games was in a 3D engine, and thus had to have "REAL PHYSICS!" so that you got completely screwed over when the momentum of blasting off of a speed pad makes it nigh impossible to to pull backwards to keep from sliding off the edge of the platform you just launched yourself toward.

I am an old-school Sonic fan. I cannot tell you how much fun it still is to pop Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Lock-On Technology!) into my Genesis and sit down to play.

I haven't tried any of the Sonic Advance games, so they might be better, considering they are 2D sprite-based games.

I can tell you I will forever seethe at the thought of what BioWare did in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Ugh, I can only imagine that concept draft was approved in the same drug-addled brainstorming session that the Sonic and the Secret Rings gameplay mechanic of DRIVING SONIC LIKE A CAR came out of.

Now, where's my Genesis...

Fuck Sonic! And not in the furry kind of way...

You know what I love Sega? Resonance of Fate. You know what else? Bayonetta...
So give us some sequels to those games, come on...

You know what would make this great? If people stopped called Dr. Robotnik Eggman. The game Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is not called Eggman's Mean Bean Machine. Why? Because it's not his damn name! Also, bringing back Knuckles would rock.

Several Things:

1. I'm pretty sure some Sega dude said that they would never, ever make a game featuring a "classic" Sonic look. Probably because he was a fat piece of shit in the 90's. The fact that they're listening to fan requests is probably a terrible idea, since most Sonic fans actually want shit like Shadow's own game, or characters like Silver.

2. I thought Sega/Sonic Team were worried about over saturating the market with Sonic games. Isn't that why they started taking Sonic '06 and other shit titles off the shelves? But now they've decided to release a new 2D "bringing it back to its roots" game before the episodic titles are even finished? Isn't that insanely retarded?

3. With that in mind, why couldn't this be accomplished by just adding a skin pack to Sonic 4 Episode 1? Or if that's not possible, just make it for Episode 2? Is it for your great time travelling story?

I haven't actually played Colors, but I am watching an LP of it and it really does look fun. And 4 was fun. But I'm just not even going to bother with this based on principle. If there was ever a completely unnecessary game, this is it.

Colours was damn fun. Episode 4 was damn fun. Unleashed was decent. 06 was a spawn of Satan.

So yeah just don't screw it up and I'm fine with it.

This isn't sonic, he's (for one) far too cartoony. Plus it doesnt look nearly as good as that fan made one (I think it got shut down though). I wont be getting it. But then again, I don't buy gay games, and Sonic the Hedgehog hasn't been cool for far to long. I already gave you one more chance my blue buddy, when I got Sonic 4 Episode one- and you almost reeled me back in, but the music sucked.

Sonic Team, give sonic away to a competent developer, Hell, pretty much anyone will do, 2K, Obsidian, Irrational, Epic, etc. Just give him up. I want to see another good sonic game before I die.

These are just attempts by Sonic Team to reclaim the old glory of the hedgehog. It's not working guys. They just want your money, and they do it by making a game that a college student could make in his free time given a couple of weeks.

An M-rated Sonic game taking a cue from Mortal Kombat? Consider me sold on that idea. Just don't make him some angsty JRPG twit and I'm totally fine with this new direction.
