Has there ever been a moment or two in some of your favorite games that you absolutely hate going through on subsequent playthroughs? A annoying mini game perhaps? A really hard boss? An arbitrary escort mission? Well post them here!

For me, it's probably the final boss in Final Fantasy IX. Mind you, he's not particularly hard. But he has an attack that inflicts a whole bunch of random status ailments that can really mess things up for the party if the attack doesn't go in my favor. Even if I do have all my status protection abilities up.

And don't get me started on that one mini game involving that darned hedgehog pie...

So what about you guys?

Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts 1+2.

In Kingdom Hearts 1, the controls for swimming are horrible, and combat turns into a chore. It's one of my least favorite levels in any Kingdom Hearts game.

In Kingdom Hearts 2, it's a fucking rhythm game. Do I really need to say more?

And speaking of which, Neverland's "secret" boss at Big Ben is horrible for the same reasons as Atlantica. Flying is as bad as swimming.

Neverland in KH2 was a bit annoying, but the controls were much better than they were in the first game, so it gets a pass from me.

Edit: Oh, and the Deep Roads in Dragon Age: Origins. A long, bland grind that the game could have done without.

In Persona 4: Golden I hate doing these stupid fetch quests to give Rise or Teddie some clues.

I am a very, very OCD game player, so when it comes to collectables in an open sandbox game, I feel almost compelled to have to go around and HAVE to collect everything before focusing on the story, or at the very least have to collect everything before I finish the game. I realize it isn't an actual "segment," but considering how I will dedicate entire sessions just to hunting down random crap, and finish my "chores," in my head, I guess I call it a segment.

All of Farewell, My Turnabout, AKA Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Justice for All Case 4. I just hate the feeling of dread being blackmailed into defending a total scumbag in court.

The freaking Collector Ship Ambush on Insanity!
It's what caused me to forfeit my insanity run last time ...uuuh it's been so long since I was that angry with a video game and I am not looking forward to putting myself through it again with no compromising the difficulty level.... someday.
?This hurts you? Yes Harbinger...yes it does.

Huh I never had issues with that particular part. For me it's the Horizon mission the bit at the end with the husks and collectors then the final guy. I'm always having such a hard time on that. That said it isn't really a part it's just challenging.

In the first Witcher game, just trudging through the swamps. There are only so many fucking Drowners one can stand before it starts to get real old, real fast. Fortunately, it's broken up by more enjoyable sections.

The Halls of Irdorath in Gothic II. The whole epilogue chapter just feels rushed as hell and the level design is a bit off. It's just not fun to play through and is a rather sour ending to a magnificent game.

I recently finished playing the first Fallout, and it has certainly topped up as one of my favourite games. But goddamn that Mother Deathclaw in the warehouse. It was an absolute nightmare killing her, and I fear it will be just as bad in all future playthroughs.

The opening of Twilight Princess, which I count as everything leading up to where Link gets pulled into the Twilight for the first time. Whole thing just takes too damn long. I can appreciate that not everything needs a cold open, but come on.

Fighting Sarevok in Baldur's gate. Oh god it's SO HARD! It's the definition of Final boss fight, you gotta work for it.

-90% magic resistance on Sarevok so it's VERY hard to burst him down
-Room filled with traps that immobilize you and your party
- Sarevok is guarded by Tazok (A half ogre warrior who packs a massive punch) and Angelo Dosan (A mage who has a shit ton of CC)
-Sarevok has lightning fast attacks that hit for TONNES OF DAMAGE and has a lot of health to back it up.

I do it legit by the way, no spamming monster summoning wands for me!

Fighting the Rachni in Mass Effect. Bastards chew through shields like they're nonexistent.

"The Library" in Halo. That's almost singlehandedly responsible for why I haven't bought the Anniversary Edition yet.

Gathering information in Persona 4: Golden was... one of the less interesting portions of the game.

Also this. I didn't actually really mind Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts, but in II...

Peragus mining station, also known as two-hour tutorial. And Ocean House Hotel, I can't help but still feel "oh shit" when those stairs fall.

Yes, the Fade in DA:O is a slog. Cool the first time, but once you have the trick it's just a bunch of pointless running around, and it's annoyingly long.

A big one for me is the reaper on Rannoch in ME3. I am surprised I don't see people complain about this more often. For one, it's a patently ridiculous moment, as there's no way that reaper could have such poor aim once it gets right in your fucking face. It seems almost like a slapstick routine where some guy is trying so hard to step on an ant that he keeps tripping himself and banging into furniture.

But Jesus, it took me forever to get past it the first time. I was freaking out. The game up to that point had been great, like a really lovely ride through the country, and then suddenly your wheels fall off and you plunge into a muddy ravine and land upside down, sinking into the ditch with no hope of escape. God, it was awful. I don't why it took me so long to figure out how to avoid those eye lasers, but I still get chills of despair every time I reach that part.

^This. Other than that which I shall not bring up, this is probably the worst part of ME3.

And as for why it has a bit of a hard time hitting you, it's probably because:
- it's already been hit on its targeting laser
- you're a small target, and Destroyers (and any Reaper really) are made to hit big things, such as ships and cities.

I know I should think of something else, but I'm coming up blank at the moment.

- Climbing the Hades pillars in God of War. Also any area that has satyrs in any of the three games.

- The Bed of Chaos boss fight in Dark Souls. A boss fight that is almost totally dependent on sheer luck.

- The elevator section in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Sand monster after sand monster comes spawning in in an enclosed space, and all the while you have to protect Farah.

- The Blockhead on Oni Island in Okami.

- Your fight against "It" in Resident Evil 4.

Most of the end-game sections in Dark Souls are awful for all of the wrong reasons.

Lost Izalith is a horrible mess of lava and boring enemies with a stupid boss (although it at least retains the damage you do to it).

The Tomb of the Giants is horrendously dark with Feral Skeletons that can tear through your shield like wet tissue paper.

The Crystal Cave has invisible paths that are far too easy to fall off, and Seath is impossible to manoeuvre around.

New Londo Ruins is OK though. And the final section, the Kiln of the First Flame, has a lovely aesthetic.

Captcha: be careful. Good advice for Dark Souls.

The only one I can think of is the last battle with Seymour on Gagazet in FFX. I've played all the other games fine (save XI and XIV) and I dunno, Seymour always gets me there. I love the rest of the game though.
