Sell the PS3 to Me

I'm going to recieve a neat $500 soon and thought now may be the time to invest in a PS3. I have every other console, but am feeling this hole in my collection. The problem is I don't feel as depressed by this predicament as I thought I would when it first hit the shelves. I'm yet to see a PS3 exclusive that demands I own the console, but then I thought perhaps I'm not trying hard enough.

I enjoy JRPGs and adventure games. From the get go I always said I'd get a PS3 when Tekken 6 and FFXIII came out, but as we know, fate, good marketing and a grab for cash stepped in to ensure my 360 would play them. The only thing it has going for it now is Versus XIII, and who knows when that'll be released.

So, if you love the PS3, tell me why someone like me should own one, with emphasis on the awesome games I am yet to trip over.

If you have the money and a reason to own both, go for it. If you're happy with your 360, invest your money into new games for the 360, and pick up a PS3 when it sells itself to you (if ever).

Also, gotta agree that KZ2 and MGS4 were really overrated, and UC2 also isn't as good as it's made out to be, although still a great game.

I don't have a PS3, but Heavy Rain looks damn good.

It seems a bit of a waste though, not because the PS3 is bad or anything, but because you already own a 360, and while they are different, it's a bit much to own both.

Perhaps you should save the money for buying games in the future?
I already own most of the games I want at the moment. I think the only other one I want is Tales of Vesperia, but I'm not in a rush. Microsoft's domination in the JRPG field this generation continues to confound me.

Console exclusives are a good reason to own all consoles, if you can, but so far I haven't spotted anything exciting for the PS3. So I'm hoping the forum can enlighten me to what I am missing.

I do love my PS3 but I don't see why I should encourage you to buy one if you don't really want it. Why not save that $500 instead and spend it on something else that you don't have to ask anonymous people on the internet to sell to you?

Just to conform though, I use my PS3 a lot more than my 360 simply because it's a better bit of hardware. That's probably not a shock though, Microsoft (the software company) were never going to produce better hardware than Sony (the entertainment hardware giant). It's just quieter and seems to enjoy be used more than my 360, which groans at me constantly while in use.

However, you've already got a whole bunch of friends on Xbox Live, why would you buy multiplatform games on the console that has no one to play with? You wouldn't.

Ok then, so it's all about the exclusives then? Well Uncharter 1 & 2 are both great games, though maybe not enough to buy a console for. God Of War 3 is coming out fairly soon, that might interest you a bit more but you could just play Dante's Inferno instead. Maybe you'll like Heavy Rain though? A bit more story based, infact just one big story and not much else. Killzone 2 is a fantastic hardware display, really showing what the PS3 can do, though it's not particularly gripping. What about Metal Gear Solid 4? Bit of a marmite game but I have a feeling you might like that, looks great in all it's HD glory as well. Ratchet and Clank? Two really fun games there, not essential playing though.

Then there's the blu-ray, if you've got a HDTV of a decent size and enjoy movies then I would recommend the PS3 on that alone. Of course, if you don't have a HDTV, then that's out of the question. Spend your $500 on a new TV instead, get a bit more out of your 360.

Well that's basically it. I still feel that if you need to be talked into it, you shouldn't bother though. Why not treat your mother to a nice long spa weekend or something instead? Or treat yourself to something similar instead?

If years of commercials dozens of games exclusives and otherwise havn't persuaded you how is a stranger suposed to convince you. ... Have you heard of M.A.G. or White Knight Chronicles?

i have both an xbox and a ps3, but since i got the ps3 first its the only one i use, and the games are cheaper.

i wont go as far as to say i love it, but its a little prettier to look at, the controller feels more natural to hold and its completely silent, like not even the sound of a cooling fan, only noise it makes is a "biip" when you turn it on, free multiplayer if your into that sorta thing, which is really nice for someone like me who prefer single player games and only play 1-2 multiplayer games (on the console), the blue-ray is nice, many games have some extra goodies for the ps3, they are rarely anything special but still nice.

but if you already have an elite id say buy games for all the money, if you have an ordinary 360, think about it.

It's worth it just for inFamous and LittleBig Planet imo. There's also the blu-ray player, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 1 & 2and probably a bunch of other games that I can't immediately think of.

Plus it has built in wireless, and PSN is free for life. So playing on-line isn't another subscription and no need for some ridiculous £50 dongle!

I've also heard that FFXIII will only let you play through with Japanese speech and English subtitles on the PS3 version since the 360 discs don't have enough space for Japanese AND English to fit. That's only a rumour though really, and it only matters if you particularly care about that sort of thing.

Oh yeah, and based off what Sony have said, it sounds like the PS3 will be 'the' Sony console for the next 6 or 7 years. So buying one now isn't going to be a wasted investment in 6 months time...

I game more on the xbox but do enjoy my ps3 for movies. 1080p is pretty sweet, especially blade runner. As for games, valkyria chronicles was okay and I absolutely love ratchet and clank, hot shots golf gets a nod too. All in all though the ps is just a blu-ray+

I'm never likely to own a PS3, but there's some pretty decent stuff on the Playstation Store if that's your sort of thing. Just flicking through the store at my friend's place, every few seconds I was like "damn, I remember that game, awesome".

Oh, and there's the Blu-ray thing if that's of any interest to you. Really, if you're thinking of getting a standalone Blu-ray player, it makes sense to pay a few extra pounds/dollars/whatever and get the PS3 instead.

Heres a idea! How about put the 500$ in your savings account and save yourself a bunch of hate and anger! And if you dont have one make one!
