I'd prefer Standard Time only, but one or the other is better than half and half of both.
This is genuinely your worst opinion yet.
😂

They say it’ll be better for after school stuff with kids but now they’ll just be waiting at dark bus stops in the morning. The sun will still be setting way too early too. I think we’d be better off just sticking to standard time since DST was kinda stupid and pointless in the first place.
Or you can start school at reasonable times, a lot of schools start way too fucking early as it is now. Some places, like Indiana, already have fucked up times to where it's dark at 8am in the winter because they are on Eastern time when they are supposed to be on Central time.

Good, I hate changing the clock on my car, and appliances. It's not a very big problem, but it's annoying.

If they go with permanent daylight savings, the only one of those problems that exists is seeing the sun in the morning before going outside in the winter, which could pretty cleanly be resolved by sleeping in all winter.
Will do, can I count on you to make up the loss of income from hours slept?

I don't want to hibernate, that just sounds like depression, but if someone wants to argue that I'm sleeping too late by waiting for the crack of dawn to actually happen, I feel I've got a leg to stand on in that argument.

Also, from an entirely selfish person point of view, the sunrise lines up with my commute exactly in the dead of winter, and I drive south to work, which means driving right into the sun. Moving clocks an hour at that time of year would put the region where I'm driving at exact sunrise at times of year when the sun doesn't rise as far south.

This is such a non-thing for me. Am I looking at this wrong?

Like, not enough of my life is affected by two or three off days to warrant this... vitriol I'm seeing. Am I missing something? Or is this just like lampooning the thing?
It's mainly just a dumb tradition we have that makes no sense. It also does cause some real harm, everything has costs and benefits.

They can walk or take the bus. Does school have to wait until after normal work hours to dismiss kids? Because schools get out way before most people are done with their work day.
I'm just telling you that's why schools start so early. Parents can get the kids off to school before they go to work (and make sure they actually go to school), and the kid will be at home alone for, like, two hours after school (or there's sometimes after-school clubs for when that's not appropriate).

Man, I was hoping after the last 2 years, employers would be more flexible with times so this wouldn't be an issue. That sucks

With the caveat that the industry I'm in doesn't really allow that but my partners does. In fact, they're building a new building that has this in mind, where only half the workforce has desk on site and half is expected to work from home

But it's bad to start school so early.

At least in the US, Schools double as Daycare because you can't leave kids under a certain age home alone and it's not always feasible to have another adult at home to watch them. Remote Work has been at least somewhat helpful in that some people can watch their kids and work at the same time, assuming the kid can't go to school.

Not denying it, both on the daily clock and the actual age kids start school at. So we need either better childcare or a world in which both parents (in a two parent household) don't need to work so much, or a better system for single parents.

Yeah I think it's the same here. Both of my parents had to work early so I had to be on school grounds early; kids being on their own for a few hours after school is seen differently (by people, not sure about the law), whether that be because of safety in numbers (kids leave school in a block but arrive in dribs and drabs) or because of time/light (kids play out in evenings, rarely in mornings).

Just mentally add/subtract the difference. I tried an experiment setting my clock to a random time to mess with my concept of time, but I ended up just adjusting to it because I knew it was display time plus 7h45m or whatever.

There were years where I couldn't be bothered to reset my alarm clock and so I went the winter months with having to do just that.

Was pretty fun. Made friends and family who came by always do a double take when looking at the clock.

Wish I didn't have to wait quite so long to watch my movies or play my games that rely on atmosphere. I want darkness when I come home. Most places in America aren't that pretty, since nearly everything is designed around cars and businesses. Marco Rubio is a douche.

Oh, so you're the person that inspired them to ruin all movies visually. Got it.
