Sequal better than the original?

Have you ever seen that, I have once, in the worms seris, I sill look at worms world party as the tip of the seris. Before you answer this think about story, (Dont think about gameplay unless it really changed drasticly adding 1 or 2 new things shouldnt be counted) and fun

God of War 2 was better than 1 IMO. Super Mario Bros. 3, better than 1 and 2. Super Metroid, better than Metroid 1 and 2. Resident Evil 2, better than 1; Res. Evil 4, better than 3. Metal Gear 2, better than 1. I can go on FOREVER. Sequels are not as bad as people portray them.

Gameplay-wise, most sequels are better than the original as the developers usually refine and introduce ideas to the game-play mechanic. However, as a game, they are usually equal or worse because of the over-anticipation which seems to shadow every sequel release these days.

A way I find that makes a game more enjoyable is to not expect/anticipate anything. Then the game is more a pleasant surprise than a disappointment.

Personally I feel Half Life 2 added Characters where there originally had been just Scientists and Security Guards in Half Life 1.

Could you imagine how awesome Half-Life 1 would have been if it had as decent characters as HL2 has? That would be the perfect world. I hope the Black Mesa pulls something like that off.

Back on topic, however;

I think Morrowind was better than Arena and Daggerfall, and I might say Gears of War 2 was better, though I'm not sure.
