Banjo Tooie..

No...
I'm not sure.. MAYBE Banjo Tooie was better than Banjo Kazooie.. But.. Eh. They were both freakin' great. lol.

But Resident Evil 4 was better than the others. As was Pikmin 2, and Call of Duty 4. There are plenty more, lol.

Video games are pretty much the only medium where sequels usually are better than the original. Since it's gameplay, and not story that makes up 90% of a games fun factor, it's a lot harder to botch a gameplay formula than it is to top a good story. Unless they completely revamp the gameplay, and if they do that they usually have a good reason.

Agree with all of the above, plus...

Master of Orion 2
Postal 2
Baldur's Gate 2
Dynasty Warriors 2 (and definitely kept getting better story-wise)
Might and Magic II (and kept getting better)
Wizardry 2 (and kept getting better)
WarCraft 2 (and kept getting better)
Diablo 2
Dungeon Keeper II
Guitar Hero II (and kept getting better)
Rock Band 2
Phantasy Star 2
Final Fantasy 2 (and some later ones were better, but some felt like a step backwards)
Suikoden II
RB6: Vegas 2
Heroes of Might and Magic II

...and more, but I'm through.

Also I can't think of a single fighting game that didn't improve with sequels.

Thief 2.
NWN2.
Gears of War 2.
Morrowind (which was the peak of TES series)
Diablo 2
Dark Crusade (peak of the DoW series, all downhill after that)

Please spell "sequel" right in future, it's not difficult. I would forgive it, but you don't type "e" with the same finger as you do "a". Also, you spelt "series" as "seris" twice.

You just don't like the "e" key, do you?

Anyway, on-topic: Quake II.

Yeah, I was gonna bring up Chaos Theory. Lets see...the gameplay was better, the mechanics were better, the humor was better, was there any aspect of CT that wasn't better than the original and Pandora Tomorrow?

Well no doubt from the above posts the gaming industry usually gets something right when it comes to sequels. Unlike Hollywood. Moving on to the Saw video game then.

In games it happens all the time, as story most of the time comes second to gameplay, which is much easier to improve.

I terms of movies about the only ones I can think of are the Dark Knight and Toy Story 2.

Video game sequels are normally pretty good, it is the movie sequels that really suck (of course there are exceptions to both of these rules).

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando was better than Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal was better than Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando

Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, Road Warrior, Empire Strikes Back, X-Men 2, and so many more. It does happen every once in a while

Half-Life 2
GTA IV
Saint's Row 2
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Worms: Open Warfare 2

The list goes on and on. Normally, sequels are better than the original, because they tend to be a refinement of the original idea. It's when a series starts to shit all over itself that sequels become vomit wrapped up in a nice looking box. *cough* Sonic *cough*

in Metal Gear Solid sequels, they always add a ton of new and better stuff to the formula (the story's always has the same tone, so I dont know if it counts, though)
Also Condemned 2 was way better than the first in everything
