I can't believe no-one mentioned this yet...but KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords. Seriously, after the golden delight that was KOTOR I was expecting an absolute wonder of a game that would bring human beings the closest to Nirvana (the mental state not the band) they could ever get! Instead I was sold a crusty half-finished dog turd with a side of piss...so disappointing...
KotOR II with the good bits added [http://www.deadlystream.com/showthread.php?t=339]

I haven't playtested it myself yet (my copy is on it's way from Amazon) but I'm very hopeful!

Two Worlds 2. I know it's not out yet but seriously, THAT game sold enough to warrant a sequel? When other excellent games fly by unnoticed. I hate the gaming industry.....

However most disapointing game is Red Faction 2
you take that back!
RF1 & 2 pioneered geo modding, game play was fun and so was multiplayer.
It was like a poormans version of unreal for the ps2.

every prince of persia that has and will come out after the sands of time.

Halo 3

FarCry2

Left 4 Dead 2, if valve gave it another year i'd been happy.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

KoTOR 2

Fable 2

Final Destination anything.

Tranformers 2

Uhh... My sister.
Ok, Halo 3 was needed to tie up the trilogy, FC2 was crap, Left 4 Dead 2 will be awesome and I pity Valve since people b**** about them taking too long aand then b**** about them going too fast, Battlefront 2 added heroes and was awesome, KoTOR 2 was good enough to keep KoTOR alive for TOR, Fable 2 was crap, I have no opinion on the FD, send her to me... lol, just kidding, just use an antimatter charge on her.
Well played...

Buuuut!

Halo 3 only exists (in its form today) because bungie ran outta time

FC2... Agreed.

I'm gonna ***** a little at L4D 2, just because it is a multiplayer game, if you release said multiplayer game sequel so close to it's original, it has to be pretty freaken new, as in new weapons, new system, a bunch of new special infected, and if not update the models (like is every steroid abusing guy white? o_O(Tank)) essentially it needs to be so attractive that the entirety of the L4D1 community will pay up another 60$, if everyone doesn't buy it then pretty much the L4D community will be split, less servers more lag less fun. same for L4D2(I have shitty internet, I rejoice if I get under 80 ping. that's sexy party time.)... so it's bitching for a good point. Sadly I'm gonna fork over the 60$ and ***** at myself for not having the balls for not buying a valve game...

SW:BF2 was bug ridden, and too much OP. Sniper was waaaaay overpowered. I could easily take out a Hero from any range, in a couple of shots. Did I mention bug ridden? I'm of course reffering to the PC port FYI.

KoTOR 2 for me was a huge downgrade.. bugs... eveeeery where... story was lame and no where near as cool as the first.... . And nothing improved and plenty downgraded. but it was worth the entire $0 bucks I spent to get it. Definetly paid for itself.

Fable 2 ..agreed.

FD, it shoulda ended at one.

Anti-matters exspensive. But hell you can have the hippo. Enjoy. *Cough*

=D and yes I'm a lil touchy about L4D 2..still gonna buy it...because it's valve..and they haven't let me down yet..right? (thinks fondly of HL2:E3)

Episodes 1-3 of star wars...
well in my opinion, they need to be removed, remade, and the originals should be made non-cannon... i like a 6 episode trilogy but isnt it better to just fix them rather than replacing them?
I actually found the prequels to be entertaining I think Hayden Christenson's(Is that how you spell it) Whiny performance and of course Jar Jar Binks give them a bad reputation now the Expanded Universe kiddy shit is unnecessary, I'm all for Expanded Universe and all but not when you try to sell it to 10-year-olds I remember being realy dissapointed when I read the review of The Clone Wars movie

I really want to know how those DS Imagine games sell enough to have a thousand and one variations out. Really, who wants to play a game where you pretend to be a babysitter?
Obviously not you, which would suggest to me that you are not the target audience. The fact they ARE being made suggests that there is a target audience, rending your (supposedly rhetorical) question rather stupid. (Yes, I'm support Game Overthinker in his loathing of so-called "hardcore" gamers who refuse to acknowledge the potential value of anything they don't want to play.) I mean, I couldn't give a rats about these games myself, but you don't see me bitching about them (or buying them either).

I agree! they sold us older fans out for dumb kids.... I really hated that. I watched the clone wars movie as soon as it came out and was extremely disappointed... I felt that george was trying to get rid of us old fans to gain newer shallower ones....

Dawn of War 2 is pretty much the chronically sick handicapped wheelchair kid of the franchise.

also, Spyro: A New Beginning and every other spyro game since.

FFX-2 to name one. Possibly Soulcalibur IV. I am not saying it didn't deserve to be made, I am saying that the game started to get ridiculous around III (not to mention I didn't like the fact that Star Wars characters where in it).

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts

Now I'm not saying that the game is 'bad' but you could have replaced the main characters. Banjo and Kazooie are not low enough on the main character scale to be placed into every genre of gaming. They should stay as platforming icons. Mario on the other hand, can continue being a genre whore.
Well, to be completely fair, Banjo and Kazooie did have a racing game on the GBA. Just saying.
Problem with a racing came is you can replace the characters and the game would be the same. They were stuck in there to move the product. The originals you really couldn't replace them whereas in Nuts & Bolts you could.

I didn't even watch the movie I saw some previews and I was like "OK looks cool" I lost faith in it when I one of the characters said "O...K?" that line is just a desperate for humor line and it always indicates desperate script-writing aimed at little kids. I think its because the carefree droid-blasting shot 'em up prequels sudden dark turn in three tramatized a lot of kids and upset parents so he had to kiddy up the Clone Wars.

The worst sequel I have ever played was undoubtedly Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2. Sure, the gameplay was tolerable, but how dare they turn their backs on the heavy emphasis on puzzles and story!
Yes, I concur. Luckily the game isn't even canon as it was not the devs of the Legacy of Kain series that made it. In fact, the story contradicts the rest of the series events.

Fable III, it has been announced to release in 2010 and Fable II was a disappointing sequel, in my opinion, as it did not really follow some of the dark themes in the first game.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn gets my vote. I mean, Path of Radiance was a complete story in itself and wasn't exactly begging for a sequel.

A prequel probably would have been cooler, kind of like they did for Fire Emblem 6. The vast political and social landscape envisioned and presented in Path of Radiance could have had a cool sequel, but they elevated the difficulty to the level of frustrating to where you cared significantly less about the story.

Also, cutscenes = underused in both games. I mean, c'mon, Nintendo. In Japan they make as much fuss about a new FE as they do about a new FF. Try to at least live up to that fact by adding a couple more cutscenes. The ones it did have were awesome!

EDIT: Also, half the people who've played it think its plot is convoluted beyond redemption
