Sequels that shouldn't have been made

The title explains it really. I want to know which game sequels YOU think shouldn't have been made.

In my opinion, Fable II shouldn't have been made. Guns, pets, prostitution and jobs. JOBS, in a game. Sorry but heroes should be paid for saving the world.

Fable II should have been made, it just should have been better.

A lot of Movies come to mind, but as far as games go. Final Fantasy X-2

I disagree. All the things that you are mentioning, except for guns, are completely optional. You don't have to get a job in the game, there are other ways of earning money. And even the guns, I used mostly magic and melee weapons, anyways, so that didn't bother me.

Call of Duty: World at War is a sequel(kind of) that I think shouldn't have been made. Redoing the World War II scene, was, in my opinion, a bad idea. If instead of WWII they did something with Vietnam, or Korea, then I would've been happy. I am just sick of WWII games.

Can you explain why you didn't like it? I disliked Halo 2, but Halo 3 is a good game, and your post seems like an attempt at trolling and derailing a thread.

Final Fantasy X-2 was utter garbage. Devil May Cry 2 was also crap but they kinda made up for it with DMC 3...

I always thought Parasite Eve 2 was pretty good. Under the norm, I would say Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. But the idea for the game was sound - it was just a buggy mess that needed a huge overhaul.

Every Tomb Raider game after III. Hell, you could say Tomb Raider II and III as well, the level design was so fucking cheap.

Not a game but the sequels to Saw are also unnecessary.

The same applies to Predator, Rush Hour and Planet of the Apes. Also all the the Pre Nolan Batman sequels.

On games I have less of an opinion, people complain about the sequels but ignore the new original games, so players get what they deserve in that respect. The hardware arms race has also meant there's usually some valid upgrade with most sequels, although that applies less and less now and even less with annual churn outs like sports games or Guitar Hero.

Call of Duty 5. Yeah, the Nazi Zombie game was fun, but that was the only good thing about the game (aside from, you know, being CoD3 with better graphics).

Resident Evil 5 was pretty much an exact copy of RE 4 with a different setting and a co-op mode :0 May I ask how RE5 ruined RE4 for you (however this is possible)?

That's a pretty brave statment, seeing Aliens is, together with Terminator 2, always mentioned together with the sentence "better than the original".

The sequel that should never have been made was Riddick (the second movie). For fucks sake... unbelievable. How can you go from PITCH BLACK to this?!

No love for Batman Returns here either, huh? Oh well. I'll just have to be louder than the detractors in my relentless support then!

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, Metal Gear Solid could have stayed as one title.
Don't get me wrong, there are many elements to the sequels that I enjoy and admire, certainly the scope was expanded something profusely.
But the storyline was balanced rather precariously 'tween palpable fiction and absurdity even at that early stage, and for all their obvious ambition, MGS2 and 3 were little else but overblown cinematic exercises in anemic melodrama.
I won't say anthing of MGS4 as I haven't had the finances to keep up with the latest console generation.
