I could have saved him. He was right there, I could have stopped that killer. But instead I just froze. Fears for my own safety got in the way of fears for his. It was stupid. It was selfish! I know I could have done something. I know could have saved him.
I didn't know the guy too well. Hell, I never even know his name. All I remembered of him was his codename and even then... [user]Diablo1099[/user] or something along those lines.
I remember the event all too well. It just plays in my mind over and over again. I was just walking down the street and I saw him across the way. Again, we didn't know each other too well, so we gave quick awkward glances and just walked away from each other. Of course, that was until a white windowless van drove up to him. It just popped out of nowhere, a man cloaked in black just grabbed him and must have knocked him out with chloroform or something. Then he just drove off like nothing happened. It was fast and efficient, all happening in less than ten seconds. No one but me noticed this event.
I froze in shock once it happened. I was sweating, my legs were weak, my heart was pumping a mile a minute. I could have done something, though. I could have got a car and drove after him, or a bike, or, hell, even just run after him! But I didn't. I was weak and I sat there in shock and fear.
After an hour or so, I finally got the strength to call the cops. I told them everything, the van, the timing, everything! They assured me that there wasn't anything that I could have done, but there was still that thought in my mind that there was.
That night, I returned home with a heavy conscience. Thoughts flowed through my mind like rapids. There were ways I could have stopped the killer, there were people accusing me of killing him, there were people surrounding me and starring at me like I was a horrible monster. I don't know why I'm dreading over this guy. I barely knew him. But I still felt like we were similar in some ways. It was like we were... entwined or something. I don't know. But I know that I could get this out of my head. I was going insane! I had to stop this!
I pulled out a wooden case from under my bed. I unlocked it and pulled out a pistol. I aimed it right for my temple. This was no way to redeem myself, but there wasn't any other way, either. My finger applied more and more pressure on the trigger and right before the bang I whispered
"I'm so sorry..."

... Well, I'm dead. That sucks.

Like Neo said, you don't get to complain about being old until you get to my age... which is never. Cuz I'll always be older than you whippersnappers.
I'm already 31 moving on to 32... and I have one kid. That's a +10 age penalty.
Also turns out that kid no.2 is on the way. That's a +5 age penalty.
Now I'm officially 46.
