So I was walking along the street to meet some friends for dinner at Chinatown, Melbourne (oh how typical, we asians are). Against better judgement, I was running on autopilot, walking without paying attention to my surroundings, concentrating on staying warm and thinking warm thoughts (curse my inability to multitask).
Suddenly, from out of the blue, an old asian lady grabbed my arm, and asked me in Cantonese, "Buy a muffin!"
I reply back in broken Cantonese, "No thanks, I meet with friends, go eat." (I imagine this is how horrid is sounds in Cantonese, then back-translated to English.)
I made a move to walk on, but the old lady vise-like grip tightened.
"Buy muffin!"
Being the good little asian boy, I just repeated, "No thanks"
After what felt like 10 minutes struggling with an old lady, and getting hungrier, I agreed to buy the muffin, if only she would let me go.
I gave her cash, took my muffin, and ran (or walked really REALLY fast).
I didn't look back, but I heard her going, "Buy muffin!" before I turned the corner.
