@CA: Used to play. I should get into it again, skirmish 4v4s were glorious! I loved the Dawn of War 2 Campaign but the skirmish went in the wrong direction for me. I played hours on Dark Crusade back when I was getting into videogames.

@Nouw: I didn't like DoW2 all that much. In an RTS game, I like having a large base with different types of units built from different structures. I didn't enjoy how DoW2 focused on one central building and a smaller number of units.

As for multiplayer... I couldn't handle a 1v1 fight half the time, let alone 4v4. I try to get better at multiplayer games, but I'm swarmed before I get the chance to turn out decent units.

@CA: Which is why I didn't like it either. It was a bit too tactical for my liking which is why I guess I suck at Company of Heroes. My play style is a dumb traditional one which Dawn of War crafted for me. I meant skirmish as in AI, not people. I had lower tastes back then :p.

Also, have you ever worked at the Albany library? Just curious >_>.

@Nouw: Ah, I see... still. I don't play very well against AI opponents higher than Easy difficulty in games like Dawn of War.

And no. It's only ever been Glenfield. I don't even know where the Albany library is.

@CA: How about other RTSs? Dawn of War is very different from say Starcraft.

Hmmm...okay.

@Nouw: The only other RTS games I've played are Age of Empires and Rise of Nations... and I think I have the same problem with them as when playing Dawn of War. People build better forces than I do, in a shorter amount of time, and I can't keep up with them.

@CA: A nice tactic I found was to never have more than 200 requisition or in other words, make use of the resources you have and only save when you know you'll use it. It helps you get your units out faster. Just something I found helpful.

I like Dawn of War 2 for the same reason why I like Company of Heroes... the focus on tactics :D

But I like the first DoW because of the extreme pyrotechnics (thousands of tracers flying EVERYWHERE!)

Guess which faction I like :p

@Schiz: I'mma go out on a limb and guess Orks? I myself am a huge Chaos fan in DoW even though the race I played in the tabletop game was Eldar. A few infiltrating Marine squads with a truckton of heavy bolters could wreak some serious havoc.

@CA: *Gasp* How did you know? :O

I guess my love for massed gunfire kinda gave it away :p

I wished I played the table top. Always hoped to field a Guard army with a few arty pieces.

@Schizzy: But I am the only one allowed to love massed gunfire...

@RTS: I only played command and conquer and the only thing I did was build troops for about a half hr until I had a massive army and then I would go to wherever and kill everything in my path. I wasn't very good at them.

@Schiz: Psh. Guardsmen are armed with flashlights and that's about it. Still, though, roll enough 6s and you'll eventually kill something.

@Nouw: Staika's post reminds me: I've also played Red Alert 2 and RA3, the former of which was infinitely better than the latter.

RTS Talk: I played Dawn of War all the way through and loved the hell out of it. I to am a Chaos player. Sadly my new laptop cannot run either Dawn of War or 2. I've also played C & C and Company of Heroes. My favorite RTS is still Starcraft thought. You want to attack my base, try getting through the solid wall of photon cannons that surrounds it.

I used to play Rise of Legends a little bit.

I'm terrible at RTS games though. I don't have the patience or the focus for them.

@Link I'm the exact opposite. I spend hours just building up my base and my army.
meanwhile, my friends have captured everything else and built the biggest, most sodomizing armies.
I once played 2v2 Halo: Wars, built a massive aerial army (I was playing as the science lady) and then got laser-fucked by my friends' Scarab.

@Trilby: Yeah, I'm usually the person who gets stepped on during a round with my friends. People tend to keep me around as more of a distraction than anything.

Unless we're talking Sins of a Solar Empire. Now that was a game I enjoyed. All of the strategy with none of the speed. ^_^

Y'know, I actually haven't played anything multiplayer in a long time... except Magic, but that's different. I've spent most of my gaming time playing single-player things these days... is that a bad thing?

@CA: Nah, I usually hate competitive multiplayer since it puts me in a really foul mood. I usually either stick to single player or co-op (Left 4 Dead and Borderlands especially).

In all honesty though, I haven't really played anything since I finished Skyward Sword in early January. I haven't had a lot of time to get my gaming fix. :/

@CA nope. I'm the same. the last multiplayer I played was Bad Company 2. technically Guild Wars, but I didn't join any parties.
