For Spy questions you always want to cut the list in half.

As such, the most direct solution to me is to write down the amount of posts of each *living* player, checking the middle of the list and asking "Does the killer have more than X posts?" Only problem is if two people near the middle have very similar post counts such that their positions could change between the asking of the question and the response of the GM

Non-a-yahs: Spy, it is my opinion that your questions should be framed to either eliminate as many as possible, or to confirm a specific suspicion. Given that it's early days (and that you're asking for advice (provided Pirate is legit, which...)), you probably don't have a specific suspicion. Now, the next step depends on your temperament. Do you like playing chancy and going for a question that has a chance of eliminating 15, but also has a chance of only eliminating 5? Or would you rather be conservative, and ask a question that will guarantee an even 10/10 no matter the answer to the question?

If you want to go for 5/15, Pirate's suggestion for "SK is listed as a confirmed American under [their] user profile" is that very split: there are 5 folks out of 20 here who have their location listed as somewhere in the US.

If you want to go for an even split, Pirate's second suggestion is close at 11/9, but I came up with a perfect 10/10 split: "Does the SK have a bio?" Exactly 10 players remaining here have a bio section on their profile.

If you want to do something in between, do your own homework.

The Spy really should've asked their question already. They should try to get their list out as soon as possible so we're not all just randomly voting. I'd like to echoes Non-a-yah later statement about what question to ask.

A 50/50 split is probably the safest way to go. Trying a 5/15 might really work out in our favor but it's sort of a gamble. As long as the Spy can keep a low-profile they should be able to ask a second question without problem. Add into that we have 2 roles can can revive the Spy and ask questions and the odds of us not getting at least 2 questions answered are rather small. With the Priest and Necromancer active I wouldn't be surprised if we managed to get 3 questions answered and that's basically game over.
