Ubisoft & Prince of Persia. Absolutely wonderful first game with all the best things EVAR, but then they go and release this Two Thrones crap. Big letdown.
First game as in the 2d one? I found it was crap, unless you mean the first 3D one.

The Oddworld series betrayed me twice. First, it moved to the Xbox while I only had a PS2. Second, it vanished off the face of the Earth :(

Unreal Championship.

Unreal Championship 2: Liandri Conflict is an AMAZING game, but nobody played it because it was too different, and now the franchise is back to its FPS roots.

The 3D sonic games. I know many people think they always sucked anyway, but I loved them. SA1 was great, SA2 was even better, then along comes Sonic Heroes basically as a huge middle finger to anyone who enjoyed previous 3D sonic games. That game was a complete mess. It didn't stop me playing it to completion though.

Well, I wouldn't say betrayed...

Let down, certainly. Final Fantasy after FF9. I mean, common, Tidus? He's acting like a little girl! Good LORD.

Oh, and FEAR 2. No where near as scary as the first one. I mean, how could Monolith screw that one up so badly? Even the little expansions were better. Ish.
Have to agree with you, for some reason a corpse isn't nearly as scary as a little girl. Having said that, I did enjoy the game for its pure brutality.

OT: Unreal 3 - it just wasn't as much fun as UT2004.

This for me is a tough one. If anything though, I'd have to say I've been severely let down by Monolith Soft and the making of Xenosaga. To me, Xenogears (Created by Tetsuya Takahashi, when he was still with Square) was a game that really hit home with me. The vast storyline, phenominal storytelling, riveting game play, graphics and unorthadox combat system, music score kept me wanting more from Xenogears. No matter how many times I beat it I would feel the same way, time and time again; It really was/is a game that makes you think 'What if'. Truly for me, this is my all time favourite game on any platform.

When I heard they were making Xenosaga, with the formation of Monolith Soft I got excited. Being as Xenogears was Episode 5, it was a great chance to see the story from the beginning. How it came about, what lead to it, etc etc. Though after playing Xenosaga, I was profoundly disappointed at the direction it took and how it felt as there were no corrillation (Sp?) or anything showing that it was the beginning of the story. Poor gameplay, even worse storytelling not to mention horrible voice acting. The only thing that was any improvement was the graphics, and even then I felt those were lacking for the time. I gave up playing Xenosaga after the first one, haven't touched either the second or third installment, nor any of it's other platform games, which at this point it's nothing more then pettyless money grabbing.

Who knows. Perhaps if they do decided to do a Xenosaga 4, it will make sense and actually do some tying into the Xenogears story. I'm not gonna hold my breath on it though.
I was really excited when they announced Xenosaga, because Xenogears was frickin' awesome. I felt really let down when I heard they were cutting a lot because the first one didn't do that well. After looking at it as a whole, it doesn't really connect with Xenogears much at all, anymore.

Nintendo did a number to everyone by focusing on how much they can make of cheap plastic attachments instead of good quality games.

I wouldn't say that because they weren't any good at making games to begin with.

I was very disappointed with Breath Of Fire, Dragon Quarter (I think Capcom wanted to kill the game and they did) They took the awesome concept of BOF (being able to turn into a dragon) and sucked all the fun out of it. if you have played it, you will know! If you haven't played it, well there are good games out there so don't waste your valuable gaming time on it.

WoW, not because of anything but I did love the original story that Warcraft III got to.

I keep hearing what's happened from a WoW player, and I can't say I'm really all that happy
with WoW at all. It makes sure I never play it.

Still, WoW is an interactive interface for multiple players, you can't really, really, really keep
the 100% storyline with that.

Soul Calibur 4. I hated it.

Devil May Cry

Because it was infected by the Castlevania syndrome (sequel sucks, prequel just as good as first) and I don't regret trading away Devil May Cry 2 for a deck of DuelMasters cards.
Devil May Cry 2 was the best in the series in my opinion. Had a dual story mode, some amazing character design (on the enemies and bosses in particular), customisable Devil Trigger, introduced Bloody Palace, among other things.

The only things I didn't like about DMC2 were the Diesel costumes and that crazy old lady.

FEAR: Extraction Point was pretty good for scares. That's about it.

I think the Mass Effect francise already betrayed me with most of the stuff they showed into ME2, and it's not even out yet. does that tell you something?

So far, the only promising stuff I could find in the upcoming Mass Effect 2 was Tali's confirmed return, perhaps the combat, Legion's debut, the part of the story about the Collectors, and the feature where descisions made in ME1 are brought into ME2.

everything else was more like a "what the hell?" with me, like most of the new squad members (except maybe Mordin, or anyone Bioware isn't shown yet), the part of the story where Shepard supposingly joins Cerberus (why would Shepard need to come running the Cerberus when he's a Spectre and likely wouldn't need to join them to save the galaxy once again? and if given the option in-game, I'd quit being with Cerberus to fight the Collectors myself, like with the Geth in ME1).
