Resident Evil 5 took my innocence from me...and it gave me a dim AI partner, 5 dollar multiplayer and biceps the size of watermelons...

I WANT MY MONEY BACK, CAPCOM!

There's way too many to list, honestly, but the most pointedly painful is Mechwarrior.

Lucasarts and by extension Indiana Jones. They earn their reputation for awesome point and click adventure games on the PC in the early nineties and now? Churning out shitty Star Wars game and releasing the next Indiana Jones game only on the wii and it looks worse graphically than Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. Guess they decided the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions wouldn't rake enough cash in.

No mention of Tony Hawk? 1-Underground were all brilliant fun, but something seemed amiss come Underground 2. Bam Margera seemed to be stealing the show, and the new systems weren't very good. The absolute bottom of the barrel was American Wasteland. It took the "Jackass" feel of THUG2 and ran it into the ground, it added BMX to the mix, and worst of all, it claimed that there were no loading times. Suuure, there was definitely no loading times in those tunnels that connected the different zones. Not at aaaallll.

I would have quit here, but my gut said to get Project 8. I did, and it was amazing. However, I'd been buying every Tony Hawk game yearly since 3. This was the last Tony Hawk game I ever needed. I felt no need to buy Proving Ground afterwards.

Still, I feel some level of animosity towards Neversoft. Tony Hawk may have been emptied of the "Jackass" sort of antics, but they took them over to Guitar Hero 3, which is, without a doubt, the worst Guitar Hero ever. The soundtrack is bland, the characters look all weird, the interface looked all wonky, and it was oozing that METAL RARGH whatever mentality that all the kids seem to be so fond of imitating these days.

tl;dr version: Screw Neversoft. They ruined two great series, one that perfected a genre, and another that was someone else's great creation.

I always felt betrayed by World of Warcraft, I always loved the story and I feel that it has died. Its become so popular that they've had to make it a marketable piece of dreck. Garona Halforcen was turned into a stripper. I was never really keen on the idea of the Forsaken joining the horde, but when the Blood Elves joined the horde I had to quit. The story was officially dead. Orcs only got a single quest line on their own damn planet, while everything else was elves and wind chimes.
I agree in every possible way. Warcraft III had an epic, complex story that could have been developed even further had they stuck with RTS or at the very least a mainly single-player game, perhaps a SP RPG or something. WoW turns the story into a hopeless, soulless muddle that never moves forward. All of the badass heroes and villains from the previous games have been reduced to mannequins that just stand around all day and occasionally shoot boxes of text at players. Even if you try to end the story yourself and just kill Arthas's ass--not that he'd be killed by some random bastard anyway--he just respawns so that you can come back the next day for more epic loot. The Warcraft story went to shit, which is why I can't play WoW.

I can't say a series betrayed me, as I only like a select few of game series. However, I lost my faith in the pokemon game series. I mean really, where can they go? They made the god of all pokemon. I have a feeling that nintendo will try and make another pokemon game with a pokemon that created the god of pokemon.

It just seems that it is over for it, and it makes me sad.

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. Been following it since PSOne, and really after Tenchu 2 it just became boring and repetitive. And Don't get me started on the XBOX Game, that was just sad. The written had seemed to have gotten a flesh eating Bacteria or something, for the quality devolved, and it went from a great stealthy assassin game, to just a standard platformer, losing everything that made it original.

Ubisoft & Prince of Persia. Absolutely wonderful first game with all the best things EVAR, but then they go and release this Two Thrones crap. Big letdown.
I felt a bit of that when they went from the rich, exotic color scheme to the "dark and gritty" color scheme of almost every other title around at the time. Then Oblivion rescued me. Assassin's Creed 2 like it might have increased the color palate this time around also.

FFXII left my inner Final Fantasy fanboy gutted and rotting on the floor. Understand this was pretty strong fanboyism, too- I'll defend FFVII forever, and really the only other FF that's angered me was II, but not to the extent FFXII did.

Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Survival horror games have been the worst-effected by the casual-mainstream strain epidemic.

Devil May Cry

Because it was infected by the Castlevania syndrome (sequel sucks, prequel just as good as first) and I don't regret trading away Devil May Cry 2 for a deck of DuelMasters cards.
