I love Final Fantasy games. Well, I did. I've been playing them since I was 12, starting with VIII and IX, and later VII, and those three were great games. They had their own worlds (with little hidden nods to the other games), their own races (Moomba!, whatever the hell Quinna was, Shumi, etc...), and big, complicated plots. Hell, I even like X, partly because of the novelty of actual voices, partly because it was a shiny new game with a main character that just begged to be made fun of.
I played X-2, and even though it's kind of fun for those days when you have nothing to do and don't really care if you totally waste it, it was not a Final Fantasy game. Isn't the point that they're a FINAL fantasy for that particular world? As in, The End, no more, if you fail the world is gonna be blown up by some egomaniac with a ridiculous plan? I'm pretty sure they were made to stand alone with no sequels
And now all the crap they're doing with VII (Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, and I'm pretty sure there's more than that), Kingdom Hearts, and the fact that XII is more like an MMO than an RPG I'm not even sure I'm going to play XIII, which looks like something from a totally different series in the previews.
I'll just stick with the older ones, if it's all the same to you, Squeenix.
