I agree with Cylem on spyro the dragon. I got as far as the 1st PS2 game and decided to quit while i still loved the PS1 trilogy.
Same thing happened with crash bandicoot, as soon as it went PS2 it went shitty.
And i'll never forgive Naughty Dog for making a racing game out of jak and daxter

Armored Core.

Don't get me wrong, Four and For Answer are fun, (at least I found them fun) but I'm just a little hurt by the shift to LOL GUNDAMS. Also, before anyone says it, I understand From Software is trying to save the series, I just wish they didn't have to...dumb it down.

Anyway, back in the day "normals" could hold their own against just about anything, provided the pilot was competent (and not an AI), and yet now we're forced to pilot "Nexts", advanced ACs which eat "normals" for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.

From Software needs to change the formula...maybe focusing on cooperative gameplay with the AI. (God knows the AI could use the TLC)

Red Faction 2 got rid of most of the destruction that Red Faction 1 had, but Guerrilla will probably redeem the series

Burnout Paradise changed a lot of the unrealistic things in Burnout 3 and Revenge that made them more fun

A series just has to continue long enough to betray somebody, anybody. Everybody loses it eventually. Even Tony Hawk grows old (the series and the man). The question is, can they recover from a loss? Is their 'self-regeneration potential' high or low?

Fire Emblem. I only got into the series with the GBA games so I guess I can't say how they hold up to the originals. However the last 2 installments, Radiant Dawn for the Wii and Shadow Dragon for the DS, make me feel like the games are taking steps in the wrong direction.

Smash Brawl. It's just a shame that they had to water the game down for the Wii. And delay it in Europe so they could sell more copies of Mario Kart.

Can't say I've been betrayed as such, just letdown by a follow up. Timesplitters: Future Perfect was that letdown. :(
Aww what? i thought that game was awesome :), 2 was by far the best but future perfect was still pretty damn good.
Yeah I thought it was good, but it was letdown for my high expectations! After TS2, Free Radical (now Crytek UK) promised to expand on the story aspect. Whilst I felt it was good, it wasn't as lengthy as I'd hoped!

The multiplayer from 2 is legendary, but its story was weak, basically I was just hoping for the perfect installment of one of my favourite game series'.

Stories and series can't cater to the wishes of every single fan. In the end, someone is gonna wind up upset at what develops. That's really all there is to it.
Amen.

Ubisoft & Prince of Persia. Absolutely wonderful first game with all the best things EVAR, but then they go and release this Two Thrones crap. Big letdown.
Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?.....

I know it is not as good as SoT, but it is still a very good game.

Agree. TimeSplitters FP kicked ass. But TimeSplitters 2 would (almost) have kicked CHUCK NORRIS ass. After kicking Vin Disel and Mr. T's asses.

I felt betrayed by Zelda when they came out with that stupid cel shading crap. I was already pissed they turned him into a snot-nosed kid for the whole game in Majora's Mask but this was the final straw.

I haven't given it the time of day since then.

Sonic.... Sonic Adventure 1/2 were really good and they were 3D! But hen came Sonic Heroes and the Shadow the Hedgehog. (Both terrible games that cost me 60 bucks each in birthday money)
And after all that Sonic team still thinks they are good devs... That is bull....

Call of Duty, and its being turned over to Treyarch. Though I'm trying to stop myself from hating on Treyarch since COD: WAW was decent.

Tomb Raider

I know let's make it unreasonably convoluted and artificially lengthen the game by making you run back and forward.

Tomb Raider Massively jumped the Shark in London of TR: III.

I agree. I think the real disappointment for us was HAZE, right?

Oddworld; for closing up shop to make movies and not finishing the quintology
This! This! This!

Who knows maybe "Citizen Seige" will be good though... if it ever comes out. It seems like Lorne Lanning has problems finishing what he started!
