Sonic Team would be the first thing to come to mind. Also I really loved the spyro the dragon games until insomniac sold the franchise. Now they're not so great :( After hearing the rumours about them "dumbing down" the new console zelda I'm just hoping nintendo wont be another company that betrays me.

The problem is Deleted, every series can do that once and make a ton of money. They can get the hype up and spend half as much as they did on the predecessor and be set until they buy their next golden yacht.
That would make sense if the GTA brand wasn't as established as it is. I know a lot of people who were put off by IV and as a result will probably avoid whatever the next game is. Surely it would have made sense, especially after GTA:SA, to make the big change with the new tech available and really take a chance with GTAIV. Make that Han Solo style bounty hunter open cosmos game that everyone wants. Or give us a whole continent to play in. GTAIV would have sold if they'd set it in a kindergarten or a Wal-Mart so why not take a chance?

And yes, I realise I've answered my own question. But my point stands.

I don't blame series, I blame developers.
So I blame Sueenix as soon as they decided to release Parasite Eve 3 FOR CELLPHONES.
I WILL HATE YOU FOREVER.

Fallout Three. While it was a good game they just could have done it a bit better in my oppinion... *Braces for the incomming flame*
I'll have to agree on this one. I did like F3, just not to the extent that I like Oblivion. And Oblivion was even a bit of a disappointment to me; I mean, only horses for mounts? And no spears? C'mon.

Depending on how capcom take the resi series (haven't played Resi 5 yet so I'm not making any definitive statements) it has the potential to betray what kept its fans attached for so many years.

Mainly, crazy plots with massive holes we love speculating on and Wesker. Just how did he become so badass?

I feel betrayed by Travellers Tales and the LEGO series. Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman were brilliant games, but then they go and announce Lego Rock Band- a pointless addition to such a great series.

I agree with you on the GTA4 thing, I was a bit dissapointed, nonetheless, it was fun. But my theory with Rockstars strategy is this. They Released GTA3 and it was vastly superior to anything else on the market at the time in terms of detailed size etc. Then they released Vice City, added more extras like buying safe houses and shops. Then came San Andreas, the culmination of the previous two games and it completely blew everyone away. I think they will do the same with the third generation of GTA. The next edition will probably let you have the freedom as seen in Vice City. Then after that we will have something of the caliber of San Andreas but with this generations graphics and physics engine...

Speil end.

Uhmm, Crash Bandicoot series. Crash Bandicoot used to be such a colorful character (bazooka's, bike's, ...) the character now... isn't Crash anymore.

Max Payne series betrayed me, when they switched the original charismatic, cynical badass for a dude, who looked and sounded like a porn actor suffering from depression.
You're so right.

At OP: I actually liked the addition of Blood Elves into the Horde. I like the Horde, but I don't like playing as Orcs. You know? It's nice to have villains with some sophistication, rather than the unwashed green things, the Jamaican blue guys, the undead guys who always show off a bit of bone, and the beef.

Betrayed? No, I'm not that emotional about it. I do feel like some games and series did some dick moves and screwed the fanbase over.

Heroes of Might and magic screwed us over with the 4th game, but the 5th one was a step back into the light.

World of Warcraft did rape the lore and characters of the Warcraft world, at least the expansions did.

I did feel screwed over by Bethesda when I saw the broken mediocrity that was Oblivion, but they made up for it with Fallout 3.

Total War did let me down somewhat with Empire, and considering Creative Assembly's latest game (Stormrise) I have little faith in it getting better...

I generally place my faith in Bioware and Obsidian, with mild caution towards Blizzard's upcoming non-MMO titles.
i feel let down by total war as i am a peaseant with only a year old laptop, i can only stare longingly at empires shinyness through the shop window

Someone had to come here and say Nintendo. Not that I'm going to claim they were maliciously attempting to disenfranchise me or anything rediculous like that; but they did completely neglect the majority of their established fanbase with the creation of the Wii, casting them off in favor of a bigger audience more attuned to casual gameplay.

Well, I wouldn't say betrayed...

Let down, certainly. Final Fantasy after FF9. I mean, common, Tidus? He's acting like a little girl! Good LORD.

Oh, and FEAR 2. No where near as scary as the first one. I mean, how could Monolith screw that one up so badly? Even the little expansions were better. Ish.

I'd say thats more to do with looking at the market, and seeing what could bring them in the most money. It's what I'd do, its what any company would do in the same situation. You go for the largest user demographic, as a rule. Though, I do agree.... Its rather destroyed their fanbase.

TALES OF SYPMHONIA- damnit I demand that dawn of the new world be removed from existence, and that they try again on a proper sequel for this game. ONE WITHOUT A LITTLE ***** AS THE MAIN CHARACTER.... (sorry very emotional about this)

Has no-one yet mentioned the travesty by Bioware that is Star Wars:The Old Republic ? I may be more than a little bit biased against MMOs but this was still a bit of a dick move in my opinion.

Well, yes it is looking at the market. It's choosing money over your loyal fans. If you dated a girl who was offered money to stop dating you, and she took the money, that'd be a betrayal. That, of course, is quite a bit more dramatized than the Nintendo situation, they're a corporation, so it's understandable that they chose money over their fans, it's just dissappointing for those of us who had come to expect more from Nintendo is all.

I agree with you entirely. Honestly, looking at the Wii titles... The only new, or actually amusing games I've come across for it are MadWorld, and House of the Dead (I know it isn't new..), but theres a lack of decent games for it, and its lost its ability to have Perfect Dark on there - which would have cranked it up quite a bit in my estimation....

Still - Nintendo lost me when they sold Rare to Microsoft. Goodbye for a lot of their products when that happened.
