If what I've heard is true, then I'd feel betrayed by Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii. Link has always been left-handed, and this port from the Gamecube allegedly turns him into a righty just for the Wii-mote controls.

Crash Bandicoot/Spyro The Dragon. I loved them as a kid. But after the first three of each they went downhill fast and became mascot roadkill. I still play the first three from time to time

Has to be Sonic. It was the series I grew up playing and now look at the series...

Poorly controlled gameplay
Too many extra damn characters, including an annoying squeeky voiced Rabbit, an emo version of Sonic
Stupid gimmicks, such as "werehog" and "black knights"

i feel let down by total war as i am a peaseant with only a year old laptop, i can only stare longingly at empires shinyness through the shop window
Sounds like me with Oblivion before I got a new computer. And then when I finally could run it, the disapointment began. Having played Empire, all I can say is don't stare too longingly, not worth it ;)

Myst 5 End of Ages. They ditched real actors for poorly CG-ed ones and the game kept hijacking the camera to make me watch cutscenes for no very good reason.

Myst 1-4 were all about first person alone-in-a-strange-place type puzzle solving and (i hate to use the word) immersion! Playing Myst 5 was a chore but I just HAD to find out how it ended!

I refuse to be a fanboy of anything. That means I think there's no room for improvement, which is ALWAYS wrong.

Final Fantasy.
7 ruined the franchise to me. The days of black mages with pointy hats adventuring with monks and warriors was over.
At least they gave people like me a throwback with 9, and the Crystal Chronicles games.
I don't like modern Final Fantasy because of the new design choices really.
If you showed me a 13 trailer before I knew better, and told me it was a Star Ocean game, I'd probably have believed it.

I hate SSB Brawl or who ever decided to destroy it!

SSB Melee was perfect. All they had to do is add some new things to it and thats it, but instead they got rid of the difficult skills and slowed it right down as well as making a big bloody tedious adventure.

I bought the Wii for Brawl but now I am just using it to play some of the classic games from the virtual console. Nintendo have alot of talentless retards in the business now who are also sell-outs shoveling a whole lotta shit!

So, we all are fanboys to something. What game series or companies have you felt betrayed you, and how? Also, what are you a fanboy of now?

I always felt betrayed by World of Warcraft, I always loved the story and I feel that it has died. Its become so popular that they've had to make it a marketable piece of dreck. Garona Halforcen was turned into a stripper. I was never really keen on the idea of the Forsaken joining the horde, but when the Blood Elves joined the horde I had to quit. The story was officially dead. Orcs only got a single quest line on their own damn planet, while everything else was elves and wind chimes.

Currently i'm a fanboy of Bioware I guess, I mean, they haven't let me down yet.

same here they totaly just killed that whole story but i have hope in d3 and starcraft 2

First off, I agree with the above. They're just making it up their "story" as they go along, and there is no sense of advancement since nothing can be changed or removed from the game world; like one of those old-fashioned TV shows, the status quo is made top priority and the story suffers accordingly.

Some more of mine:
Stronghold series, from Stronghold 2.
Half-Life series, from HL2.
Final Fantasy, 9 or so... and again, worse, with X-2.
Serious Sam Series, from Serious Sam II.
Deus Ex' sequel, Invisible War.
Master of Orion 3... though that was licenced or something, so maybe it's not a true betrayal?

George Lucas in general. Don't need to elaborate I think.
Monkey Island 4 was pure ass.
The fact that Lucas Arts dropped Full Throttle.

Hell, anything with Lucas it seems.

Also if tv shows count I kinda disliked the last season of Battlestar Galactica. Can't even decide if I'm okay with the ending.

I felt betrayed when Halo stopped being beloved and started becoming reviled if that counts.
Yeah, that got old really fast, and the funny thing is, a lot of the people I know who bash halo, call me up and ask if I want to play co-op....go figure.

World of Warcraft, in a way.

Some of my more favorite characters from Warcraft 3 just got lumped into "Gone mad, turned evil" group. That sucked. Kael'Thalas and Vashj weren't anywhere close to being "evil" by any conventional means. And Illidan should've died in the end of WC3:TFT.

I suppose Heroes of Might and Magic sort of betrayed me too. But I haven't played past HMM4, which frankly sucked compared to earlier ones.
I agree, this is probably just me, but i felt Azeroth itself had alot more milege in it, i mean I loved all the things you could discover, all the stories you could uncover and even going round exploring after I reached the level cap didnt really tire me out. Whereas now alot of the more mysterious and interesting zones are deserted and from a fluff point of view, the whole of TBC was just silly and (yes, im aware its fiction) unbelievable... I quit about 2 yrs ago, haven't gone back :)

(BTW, anyone from the alliance side done that quest in Duskwood about the "Scythe Of Elune?" I felt they coulda fleshed that out alot, even introduced it an epic/legindary weapon of some sort)
