As a Canadian, yes.

I work at a hotel and you have no idea how many American customers will correct me that it's "soda", not "pop", and oh by the way do we take MasterCard up here?

Yes, sir, we have electricity, phone lines and banks up here too.
Like this. Seriously, we're not all this dumb. I remember meeting a Canadian once who thought that Alaska was a Province, you know, but Americans just think it's ours.... Sigh. Anyone want a slightly used Sarah Palin? She comes with her Anti-Freedom package and equipable idiocy. If you act now, we'll throw in her bad poems and conspiracy theories! No? No takers?
I wasn't trying to generalize, but I do want to give you an idea of how many American guests will do this. In my three years of hotel service, I have checked in probably a thousand Americans, and all of them - not just a few, every one - has either said "no, it's soda" when I tell them where the pop machine is or has said "so, do you guys get cable up here?" or something like that.

I am dead serious when I say that.
As someone who spent his college summers working at a resort in Florida, I can say that The Great White North has it share of moronic travelers too. Don't think that your citizens are immune from stupidity either. There are stupid people everywhere from every country. Maybe stupidity is a reflection of the person and not the country?

It depends on the area where those particular American are from. I'm from Minnesota, and we call it pop too. Don't lump us all into one convenient group like we're all the same.

I'd rather be dictator of the netherlands so I can finally put my plans for world domination into action!!! mwuahahaha!!

joking aside tho, I think what this country needs right now is just a stable government wich isn't afraid to make descisions, like this one seems to be... everything is bloody pushed forwards untill the next elective period... although that might be a good thing since most of the stuff that is put off is actually going to make things worse...

god I hate this country...
Didn't Bush' decision to run the american warmachine across half the world seem like quite a DECISIVE action to you?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the stuff that does the most harm to the world (including the U.S) is Presidents doing too much, rather than "too little"...

Bill Hicks explains exactly how God does when he fucks with people's heads:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qmglGWMsdk

(seriously, watch it. He's hilarious! XD)
Does make God sound a bit like Loki doesn't it. I've heard that one before. I had brought up Dinosaurs in College to a Creationist and she told me the "put here to test our faith" thing.

Shortly after that I saw a book for children about how Dinosaurs roamed Eden with Adam and Eve and God killed them because they began to ignore his word (much like how he sent the kids out of the garden).

I started wondering at that point how many different reasons were out there for something that I kind of figured would be a pretty difficult problem to solve.

People get really upset about the way obama is depicted at some of these rallies. But their idealogical opposites, the extreme left, had eight years of bush depicted as a nazi, and burned in effigy, and all sorts of things. I've also heard a lot of inarticulate leftists who are unable to make statements without screaming or crying. Exasperated individuals screaming about the facist right.

Here we have a lot of people who are angry. Many of them aren't even sure why they are angry. And one thing you are guaranteed to see when you point a camera at some average rally attendee is that they will be unable to articulate WHY they oppose or support various things.

This "man on the street" crap is so cliche.
"I want obama because he's gonna bring change! i won't have to pay for my groceries or gas or electric bills no more!"

Too bad my parents, most of my parents' friends, and a good portion of my friends also watch NASCAR, otherwise that stereotype would be true.

Yes, these people are a minority group. However, while this video depicts some of the more extreme and uneducated people against Obama's plans, there is a larger amount of people who object to some of the ideas of the President without devolving to idiotic rants. Although, most people who object to ANYTHING that Obama says, are usually regarded as such.

These are several ideas that are depicted in the video that I would disagree with, and a few concepts that I would agree with. ( I didn't watch the whole video, so if I left anything out, it's probably because I didn't see it)

1. Obama's spending habits.

My opinion: They are way, way, out of control. A country in the economical situation we are in should not be spending such vast amounts of money on some of the things that Obama has spent money on.

2. Obama's healthcare "plan"

My opinion: Since a defined "plan" has not yet been made, it's hard to say whether he has a bad idea or a good idea. It depends greatly on it's structure and use. However, the concept of nationalized healthcare is not the great "cure" that the media tells us it is. That said, again, I don't know exactly what Obama's "plan" will become. It may be something that I would support.

3. Obama and the rest of DC are either Communists, Evil, or the Anti-Christ.

My Opinion: ummm, NO, Maybe, and hell no. I believe that some of the people in Washington may be want a Socialist government, but the people who consciously think this are few and far between. Politicians are Evil? I think most are not what they pretend to be, and that some of them are actually evil men ( or women) but, that list does not include the President ( at this point in time). As far as Obama as the Anti-Christ. . . wow. I have heard some dumb idea's before, but this is near the top of my list. I believe that Obama is a man who is trying to do what he thinks is best for this country. I disagree with some of the ideas he has, other ideas he has promoted, I think are great. But, there is no reason AT ALL to call the man the Anti-Christ.

4. Obama is a Christian.

My Opinion: No, he is not. Saying that you are a Christian, and going to church, doesn't make you a Christian. This concept is evidently competely foreign to many Americans. A Christian is someone who has a relationship with Jesus, believes Jesus's words, and the Bible, and tries to live their life accordingly. A Christian is NOT someone who merely agree's with some of the Bible's philosophy or teaching, ( this is what I think Obama does), it is not someone who twists or intentionally misinterprets the Bible to promote their own agenda, ( this includes cults, televangilists, most politicians, many church leaders, and terrorists who attack or murder others in the name of "God")

I would say something about these people, but I still would like to have that Trinity badge below my avatar.

Anyway 1.2 million is still 0.4% of the entire nation, so yeah, it's a minority. Of course IF theres this many people, because I've met with oppinion that there were about ~80.000 people.

Can I ask a simple question, why does everyone who has a comment about a country have to generalize the entire population to one thought? Like they're one hive mind with one thought/belief to themselves?

America is filled with different cultures, people, beliefs and smart people as well as idiots. No matter the country you really can't generalize them into one large group saying "why does Fictionland believe in this?"

Edit: after finishing the entire video, yes there are idiots in all countries. That you can be sure of.

I don't know much about politics or economics, but it seems here in Australia, Rudd spending so damned much actually helped our asses, that said it could just be because Australians won't let the beer economy die.

May I recommend Empire: Total War? My United Provinces have all of mainland Europe west of the Rhine (and some east), most of the Caribbean, and southern India. And it's only 1740...

Look wherever you go there are going to be idiots, it's as inevitable as the sun rising in the morning. But seeing as the US is in the mainstream, whenever idiots act like, well, idiots there it becomes so big that most people are quick to judge America and its people, not seeing the fact that even in their country there are people just as stupid (Cronulla race riots, MOTHER, FUCKING, OLYMPIC TORCH PROTESTS *I get pissed off about that because I got caught up at a rally, IN CANBERRA, where Tibetan supporters and Chinese supporters duked it out, it got pretty scary*) but America truly is a nice place, just like all the other countries in the world, and no, from my many travels to the US they aren't all the morons people make them out to be.

Please read EVERYTHING on this website:

http://www.evilbible.com/

On that website you will find genuine excerpts from the bible. Many of which are intended to be the "law of Christianity". The people responsible for the website has not made them up (they are all in there if you'd bother to read the bible).

And tell me, in which way have these evangelists, church-leaders and terrorists "twisted" and "misinterprated" the bible? : )

All that "evil" shit is already in there. There's not much to really "misinterprate".

So if I have to choose between the "pick and choose" Christians who, you know, don't rape people, don't kill people and don't promote stoning homosexuals to death OR the fundamentalists Christians who are "by the book". I think I'll choose the former. And if Obama is one of those people, then yay him!

well with me being on of the critisist of the usa myself, I should actually jump on the bandwagon here and make fun of them stupid fucks...

but also living in the netherlands myself, wich used to be a free country... well with the levels of moronity going on here on my home turf I'm actually quite tempted to make a youtube vid of my own... but wait! I can spare myself the effort, just youtube "fitna by geert wilders" with a bit of luck it has enlgish subs and you can actually make out what he says...

and in the polls... well let's just say, a BIG part of dutchmen is saying they're going to vote for this misinformed fuck...
About dutch politics: whatever happened to NEE? That protest group had some really sweet ideas i you ask me. : )
I don't actually have a clue what your on about... wich is shite tbh, since I always used to pride myself on having quite an extensive knowledge of dutch politics... wikipedia it is...

EDIT: just found yer answer... it's actually belgian... but the idea is good, might stop people from voting for that peroxideblonde idiot...

I still think JP Balkendende (Dutch prime minister) is trying to become a left-wing fascist dictator...
And what is wrong with beeing Left-wing. It is never wrong to want to take care of your weaker citizens instead of privitize everything (privitizing doesn't work especially not in healtcare).

That's nice to know but I never meant to imply Australia was some sort of haven, (we have stupids aplenty) but I was just wondering whether this was the norm or not.

This is a spit in the face to me, because I was just beginning to open my mind to the idea that Americans might actually be intelligent, empathetic people behind the laughable mess they call a government. I feel sorry for the soldiers who enlisted believing that they should protect these people.
