Same as apparently 1 in 2 Americans believe their never was a moon landing; to me, Americans as a people seem to be overly gulible. I don't know how that happened, as the English are overly cynical, and Americans started off as English colonists...or was it religious extremists? My early American history is abit fussy.
So is mine. As far as I know there were english in everyway until till the so called war of independance, which was actually a British civil war when you consider that the colonists were only 2nd or 3rd generation citizens, saw themselves as British and many did not want independance. It is only after Britian gives up in the war and expands it empire to the more profitable east that there is any notion of America as a country among the common citizen.

It seems to me that no matter where you go in the world there is always a good handful of really stupid people. Every Continent. Every country. Every state. Stupid people.

When I first read this, I thought 'o great, what did 'we' do now'. I suppose that I should appreciate that fact that I was not disappointed *sigh*.
And another flame war continues thanks to generalizations and culture clash. Sheesh!

I couldn't watch past the pro-life spokesman... way too depressing to watch that sort of rally.
I am with you there. I tried but that guy killed it for me. I like to think these kind of people are in the minority, but I just keep running into these repulsive, ignorant waste of skin.

I'm ashamed of my country...

I hate how so many people think they know everything, go boycott, but in their mind they have no idea what they're protesting for.

As shown by the video.

"Zomgz, d1dn't kn0w CzaRs has no c0ntorl ovar our gov'ment!"

But, no offense, why are most of them rednecks? Or seem to be?

listen up america... take a lesson from your elders and take a look at how it works in europe.
healthcare for all will not break your country, however it will mean an increase in taxes, but if money is all you care about, then i suggest you go take a swim in a shark tank while wearing a bacon swinsuit
How about the Australian model with Public Hospitals and Privet?
In a nut shell it works like most school systems; Private is more expensive but better quality while Public is cheaper and crapper.
While it's true what you say, the Public system is need of huge amounts of money. Since most people can't afford private healthcare the load on public hospitals is easily triple that of private and they have even less money to cover the costs of care. It becomes particularly bad on friday or saturday when there's a big rush due to fights/alcohol. You could be stabbed in the gut and no one would be able to get around to you for literally a couple of hours. Doctors also don't want to work at public hospitals because they get less money, they work harder and they do so many cases in such a hurry there's more of a chance they'll make a mistake, it'll go on their record and they'll be sued. Basically it's fucked.

I think it's amusing when this journalist throws reality in their faces and they don't know how to respond.

Oh my god. I laughed and cried. This is funny, yet so very depressing at how many stupid, ignorant people there are.

Yeah those Adele penguins around McMurdo's station in Antarctica are dicks.

In all seriousness I agree. It's always the worst scum that floats to the surface in these sorts of things, often because they make an easier target to aim for. For all the crazy red necks who went to that rally there's 3 who didn't and approve of national health care.

As a Canadian, yes.

I work at a hotel and you have no idea how many American customers will correct me that it's "soda", not "pop", and oh by the way do we take MasterCard up here?

Yes, sir, we have electricity, phone lines and banks up here too.
Hey don't lump us all together. In the midwest we call it pop.

Ok, there are dumb people everywhere. Having lived abroad and in the states, I really don't think we hold a monopoly on ignorance. I don't agree with these people (Mostly, I'm not a fan of President Obama, but my reasons are quite a bit different.), but I do support freedom of speech. They may need to be euthanized to protect the future, but they can say whatever they like.

Please please PLEASE don't generalize on the idea of "Americans," it's just gonna start a horrible flame war.
Sadly, I have to agree; they are idiots everywhere. Unfortunately, idiots in North America (and especially the US) have a fetishistic urge to capture everything they do, in the name of posterity. Generally, this means that while the actual per capita of idiots is no higher in N.Am than anywhere else, more of the idiots here have videotaped themselves being morons, and then made it publicly available to the rest of us.

Speaking as a UK resident all I have to say is this;

"You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time." -- So even though most people are up for health care there will always be a vocal minority who oppose it. Honestly I'm not judgmental of America for it, it is just human nature.

However. I do take issue with the practise some Americans are taking with criticising the UK and indeed other countries' health care systems. Claims such as "Professor Hawking would be dead if he went through the UK health system." show a level of insensitivity and ignorance I doubted I'd ever see a from the media of a G8 nation

I think occasionally Britain does have a rather patronising look upon Americans.

This would be better avoided if you spelt Colour properly.
They actually do spell it correctly.

Anywho, I get the impression that America has the same sort of proportions of nutters and uninformed people as any other country but they tend to get more screentime. We have crazy people too but they don't often gather together in large numbers and get interviewed by the press.
Pretty much, more power to the media and all.

I'm politically conservative, and want nothing to do with these people, but respect their want for change.
