Hi I'm thinking of doing the above today, can anyone think of a good reason I shouldn't? I don't care for MGS or FF or GOW because they're crap. The main reasons I got a ps3 almost a year ago, was because I thought LBP would be amazing and for games like Ico and Heavy Rain, and also flow and such. I new that games I liked such as football games and FPS's would be better on 360, but I thought I'd make that concession. Besides, I thought that maybe the 360 would become redundant soon, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Still now, they new cry engine is being tested on both consoles and guess what, the 360 version is better as usual.

I found LBP to be a major let down. I was really looking foward to all the mechanical inventions that would be made, but the focus seemed to be more on platforming and visual style, and the creation tools were clunky.

The bloody controller compromises all action games with those god awfull analogue sticks. The online is terrible when it works.

I think I can live without ICO and Heavy Rain, besides, I could buy another ps3 in some years when it's cheaper.

So can anyone think of a good reason why I shouldn't make he swap appart from the feeling of having thrown away a hundred quid or so?

Why are you even asking if you have already made your mind up?

It all depends on which kind of games you want, and switching now seems a tad silly since the PS3 has some quite promising titles on the horizon.

You obviously know what you want, I don't see why our opinions matter.

Red Ring Of Death?

I got through 4 360's in a month before reverting back to a PS2

Dude, really-

Its just a box under your TV that you play games on. Who cares what you use to do it?

Each system has it's good points and bad points.

Personally, the Blu-ray player is what sold me on PS3.

I think you have mentioned some of them yourselves:
Heavy Rain, Trico (new Team Ico game), MAG, GoW III, The next Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, L.A Noire, the next Motorstorm yada yada yada and so on.

And how are football games worse on the PS3?

Anyway, it seems like you already made your mind up, so just go for it and switch. I'm really not sure why you are asking us.

I gave up on my 360 - It's been fixed once, replaced...and died again. My PS's on the other hand, are all still working.

It sounds like you've made up your mind. Honestly, I like my ps3, but play the 360 at a friends place. I wouldn't ever own one since the 360 is a cheap PC gaming platform. All 360 games go PC eventually. Not to mention the astronomically high failure rate of the systems is like russian roulet with your money.

Do what you will with your stuff. Your choice. ps3, 360, they're all platforms for fun. Your preferance is up to you.

I have sort of made my mind up but i'm just checking so I don't make a mistake. L.A Noire, I forgot about that, I'll have to look it up. Football games are worse because the online barely works.

I have both, and to be blunt and honest....there really is no difference 90% of the time...

sure blu-ray is snazy for movies, but it's not effecting the games, visually they are the same other than some minor colour differences,

biggest differences are " whats exclusive for what"

when it comes to online....egh, I'd give Microsoft the point there, even if live gold costs a little ( which it's still really really cheap)

Though I admit I don't do much online play..I mostly use live for getting Downloaded content ( which ps does not get most of the time if at all, I don't even check anymore)

and I use it for streaming netflix, and going through their video library, downloading game demos and such..

I admit to having one red ring really early on in the 360's life, and got it fixed for free, and the never one has never had a problem since...

when my PS3 started acting odd sony customer service pretty much gave me a big " F.U" and made me feel they were going out of my way to have them simply diagnose it let alone fix it.

but still.. it's up to you...Both have ups, both have downs, but in the end there really is no difference between the two where it matters most.

Sigh, all the good consoles have faulty hardware, but it seems you already know what you want to get so ill just leave you with this - my friend did it and he has never been happier.

Doesn't the 360 come with a 3 year warrantee nowdays?
No idea, I was disgruntled at the fact my level of playing got through 4 in a month, OK 3, the last one (4th) went straight to trade in, I'm not looking back in anger at that decision.

Me, I personally went with a 360.

For all the problems that people claim to have with them, I've had mine for almost a year with the only problem being that it -gasp- didn't want to read a scratched to hell used disc. Sure, you have to pay for multilayer, but that for me was a non issue because I had and continue to have no desire to play anything online. Finally, it seems like most major titles end up being on both consoles these days anyway with few enough exceptions to not really bother me.

However, this has just been my experience. As for going and recommending what someone should get, then frankly they're pretty close to par. 360 has most everything I want to play, is better priced, but might have some hardware issues. PS3 ALSO has most everything I want to play, has a blue-ray player which means exactly diddly to me, is more expensive, but doesn't seem to have the same hard ware issues.

To me at least, I'd call that a wash.

I think the online might be something to do with your internet rather than the system.

Yes! I would, but make sure you trade for an Elite or that Red Edition because not only will you get a better deal and more games but if you're like me, going round friends houses and Xbox LANs nearly every week their great for multiplayer and many of the people I know have one so theres compatibility there.

However if you want the best graphics (Blue Ray) and free online play then stick with what you got! Because eventually when the price goes down more people will own one of them too.

I can offer two reasons to stick with PS3:

1. Red Ring of Death. It's far too common to be ignored. Sure, the replacements are free, but they can take a while, depending on where you live.

2. Most 360 games will eventually come out on the PC. The same can't be said for PS3 games.

I'm not saying PS3 is better than 360, just giving you some reasons ;)
